The BXW-163 Amatsukaze is the main weapon for Berserker unit 06. A laser sharp, straight katana style sword capable of cutting through a vast array of objects, especially so when combined with a Berserker's strength. The bladed edge itself is made from grade 2 solid Kelvian. Kelvian by nature is an electricity amplifier. When as a solid and introduced with an electric current, the Kelvian has a chemical reaction that, upon contact with other objects, causes their atomic structure to break down instantaneously, giving the sword an ability to cut through virtually anything. This technology has been nicknamed K.I.B.S. or Kelvian Ignition Blade System. The downside to this system is the amount of electricity required to power it. Amatsukaze is the first weapon to utilize a magazine style K.I.B.S. method, similar to handguns or rifles. When this special magazine is loaded into Amatsukaze, it can generate enough power to keep the K.I.B.S. ignited for 28 straight minutes, this is over 7x the time limit from other various magazine styled Kelvian weapons.

It's from a universe of mine that I've been working on over the years. Hope to one day get it out there, but for now, it's currently in a state of revision. The backstory given here is pretty dated, but the basic gist is the same.

Sweet. Β I came up with my own weapon once, but it's not nearly as fleshed out. Β It's a katana called Tarnish, so named due to the color of its blade. Β Its physics are reversed, growing dull with a lack of use, but sharper with every strike, until it's sharp enough to even scratch a diamond. Β I'd say it can cut through anything, but that would be too OP and could cause a problem in some cases (fight a guy who knows it will cut right through his own sword and that guy could actually continue his momentum and slice your arm off with the remainder of his blade), plus I wanted to keep a sense of realism to it. Β While it can cut metal at its sharpest, it can't quite cut a full inch into most harder metals, but it can still cut them pretty well.

But how does the top piece of the last sword don't break down ?
Is it made of Kelvian but another grade so it resist the "molecular breakdown" effect ?

I had a more detailed explanation some time ago, but that was lost with my last computer, so here is what I recall from memory.
The rest of the sword itself is made from a man-made metal called "Blackened Radium." The characteristics of Blackened Radium make it immune to the atomic structure breakdown characteristics of electrified Kelvian. I did have a longer, actual logical explanation to how it worked, but like I said, gone.

Okay, THAT is an awesome sword. I have to ask, though: what's the difference between the top and second swords? And what's that weird thing behind the bottom sword?

The top one was the original prototype one. The second one is the final version that is actually used. That thing behind the bottom sword is a magazine "power cell" of sorts, which sends electricity through the sword and igniting the blade on the bottom sword.

Okay, but there's also a red thing on the prototype. What is that?

The prototype one had two safety switches to prevent accidentally turning the sword on. So the red button had to be held down when someone grabbed it and the yellow button had to be pressed in order to activate it. When the sword when into the final series, it's ignition system was linked directly to an AI. This way only the correct user could use it and it would prevent accidental de-limbing.

But he can still activate/deactivate the blade manually, right?

The person/thing that was meant to use this was mostly mechanical, so everything was done electronically at will. Only when he wants it to be on does it turn on.
