In the meantime though, thought I'd throw this out there for all my wonderful readers for being so patient while I flail about with this page.

A fun little AU idea I had when I was at work. What if the roles were swapped and it was Alira who was a resident of Hallownest, and Zaat was the one who joined the Troupe when he was young? Boom, we get some weird shenanigans when the Grimm Troupe is summoned to Dirtmouth.

Through time, they slowly get to know each other until they form a bond pretty quickly. Zaat's love language, and really it goes for Weaver Spiders in general, are gifts that are handmade. When he finds himself infatuated with Alira, he can't help but pour his free time into designing things just for her. While of course she's flattered at his generosity, Alira eventually has to tell him to tone it down some else she'll run out of room to store it all.

Needless to say he did, but that didn't stop their developing feelings for one another. When the time came for the ritual to conclude, staying with her in Dirtmouth was an obvious choice.

For those that wonder, a Seamster is basically the male equivalent of a Seamstress. A modern word for this is a Tailor. I was going to call him that, but given how flowery HK's language is and how victorian the theme of the Troupe is, I thought this title fit better.

Also, yes. Alira's adoptive parents (Cornifer and Iselda) would NOT like her dating a Spider at first. Certainly not one of those creepy Circus members. It would take a lot of time convincing them that she's safe around an arachnid like him.

Given that Zaat was already familiar with the layout of Hallownest and would rather just spend time sewing in his tent, he wasn't really happy when Master Grimm told him to pass out fliers for the Circus. He had to keep an eye out for the summoner while he did it, too.

His bad mood quickly perked up when upon walking into the map seller's shop, he came face to face with the most beautiful insect he had ever seen. Far too delicate to be a moth, but far too fluffy to be a butterfly.

He just HAD to know more about this stranger.

Alira was helping her mother clean up the shop some. She worked quickly, eager to get back out there to explore. There was a particularly interesting secret path she found in the Fungal Wastes; and knew it would no doubt lead to an even more interesting shortcut for her map. Of course, she wouldn't be telling either of her parents where she'd be exploring this time. She knew they would only worry about her hopping around the acid pools that populated that region.

Distracted with her tasks and not really paying any mind to the customer that just entered, she jumped when she heard him clear his throat. Turning, she found herself tightly clutching the wrapped up parchments in her arms when an extremely frightening arachnid stared at her with not one, not two, but three sets of eyes. Though his face-plate obscured his hideous features, she could see the sheen of those frightening white orbs all focused on her alone.

At this point, she'd never been this intimately close to a Spider before. All the ones she had encountered before in Deepnest were completely mad and dangerous, making her have a healthy fear of them during her patrols. So to see one staring her down and moving with a grace she didn't think was possible for a creature with so many limbs was quite a shock. Even to a seasoned cartographer like herself.

When he spoke, it sent shivers through her exoskeleton that either felt good or bad. She was too out of it to know.

"Oh, hello. I was going to give you a flier, but you're far more enchanting."

She had never blushed so hard in her life. Enchanting? Her? Really?

Perhaps Spiders weren't so bad after all...
