Who knows? I think the only character who has ever REALLY gotten the shaft was Barry Allen when he was left dead for 23 years, but even then he had appearances throughout the years.

"Captain Marvel" is all over the place since DC got one too, bought from Marvel.
But meh it's tradition to kill Ben, Gwen, the Waynes and so on ........ then revive the characters in another dimension .....

the DC captain marvel was not created by DC, but by fauwcet comics, which get ruined by DC because he looked like superman.
DC get the character, but didn't used it, then marvel created their own (Β and very different ) captain marvel a decade later.
DC then tried to reuse him, but it was too late, they lost the right of the name because they didn't used it

Both DC and Marvel had him for decades. The story is too complex here, but DC simply decided to rebrand him as Shazam, drop whole Marvel family and forget that the issue existed. And I'm just being an a//hole, who continues to call both characters Captain Marvel and expect other people to get it from context. I'm also one of those heretics that treats DC and Marvel as alternate realities of each other as it was back in the day

Don't worry, I've seen plenty of people that complain about Shazam not keeping the " Captain Marvel" name, but the company Marvel owns the name so, DC had to drop it so they don't get sued.
Meh, I love both Marvel and DC and you can see them as parallel universes that sometimes clash ( when Marvel and DC do team ups ) like Bruce Wayne leaving Nick Fury in the dust by taking over Shield ( that was funny ) or Bats and Spidey team up ( grumpy and the smarty pants ) ( DP and Harley team seems really popular now ). So, from my point of view, your way of seeing the two universes is not incorrect

I thought about it, but it just didn't mesh well with the throwback 1960's quality in the coloring stage. The poses I got straight from the poster. I took a few liberties with the characters, kept them hippy but slimmed down the waistline comic book style.... Just the way you like them! Lol
