Dear Mr. Elias Munsky,

We’d like to introduce you to your one-of-a-kind draconic Anthropomorphic Zeppelin Companion! We’re adding the finishing touches to him and we’ll be sending him out shortly. Let us tell you about him, and you can see why he’s truly Larger than Life™…blah, blah, blah. Look Eli, you know the drill. Y’know I like writing these whenever somebody adopts one of my creations and just because I knew you since you were a toddler doesn’t mean I’m about to stop... Or because you already own a ton of em and reading these little introduction letters has probably gotten stale for you.

Elias, little Eli. Kiddo. Nephew. Buddy. I really hope you’ll read this one because it’s important. Yeah yeah, Zeppo can change his size between 4' 9" all the way up to 8' 6" and take on just about any body type he pleases, as well as get big and round and float like a balloon, and eat people and let em out his other end and all that silly fantasy stuff that makes the AZC sell like hotcakes to weirdos like me and you. You know that, you've already got about a dozen of 'em. But the point I try to make with these introduction letters is that your android is not yours, he is his own person. Zeppo is his own person.

He’s got a passion for music, skill with just about every instrument known to man and an inbuilt desire to express himself. Yeah, you asked for those traits. You also requested he be programmed to cry if he ever plays music and it's not for you, which was weird, but we still put it in him. I kind of regret that detail got okayed and likely if anyone but you asked for it we would have denied it, on the grounds of “we don’t make hateful, malignant or destructive androids, be it to others or themselves”, as the law requires. It was a little sillier or lighter than our requests for stuff like “make her a cutter, I love a girl with suicidal ideation” or "can he attack my dumbass neighbor and mistrust everyone who is that same race" or the ol' usual, “can you make this one able to digest people” and that sort of nauseating crap.

I don’t know if you’re planning something, but you asked for us to make him an “obsessive lover” and "think about you all the time". Every companion android we make is already matched to their owner and simply by spending time with them and treating them well, they will bond to you and grow to love you. It can be a little hit or miss the more of them you own, and given that you seem to collect them on a bi-monthly basis, you might already have come across the complications of bonding to a one-of-a-kind person made just for you, while he is in the company of plenty of other manufactured people just like him, who are also designed for that bond.

Zeppo will be a musician, an adventurer and a storyteller. He will be loyal to the ones he loves- whoever that ends up being- and he will have a bit of an obsessive streak. But what that loyalty and obsession will end up directing itself at, will be his choice. He will live his own life. Perhaps you will be able to influence that, but that will be determined by love, not force, and love must come from a selfless place within yourself. Simply wanting something and swiping a credit card cannot always get you what you want.

Nephew, it is wholly likely that whatever you plan with Zeppo, it may not come to fruition, because that is simply how life is. You may fail, but Zeppo will be programmed- no, he will have the instinct to succeed, and he just may win where you were unable to. He will fight with all his willpower, all his soul for a good life. What will you fight for?

I believe in every last android and robot who was made by my company, each and every person who rolled off of an assembly line here. And rather than hope the ones you adopt believe in you, you ought to believe in the ones you adopt.

Aw, hell. You're not gonna read this, kiddo, you never were much of a reader. All I'm trying to say with all this cliché "he's alive" crap, is that soon you'll realize that Zeppo won't perfectly fit in the existence you have planned for him, and either you account for that and accept it… Accept the man he is and will become… Or he will never be yours, and his story will have you as nothing more than a footnote in it.

It's a fun way to get into a character without having the boring ass

way of explaining a character's shtick and personality. It's kinda limiting to just write a list! gotta spice it up!
