sadly i agree it's over loved, if it were me i would mention or show another theropod say i don't know maybe torvosaurusΒ in this show the torvosaur in dinosaur revolution was bad ass and it should've been the poster boy for it

Meanwhile, every other predator tries to kill it, which they would succeed in a millisecond.Β

Hell one megalodon should be enough to kill it in a millisecond (the shark is over twelve times as large). Compared to the largest and most successful apex predator ever T. rex is insignificant.

If you're going to treat a predator this way at least do it to one that deserves to be called the ultimate badass. Even among land predators tyrannosaurs are mediocre compared to carnosaurs.

You have to see how Planet Dinosaurs treated tyrannosaurs. Wipe out all other large predators...seriously?

I went berserk. If you are trying not to suck up and you deliberately skipped T. rex, you shouldn't say that BS. When supposedly accurate sources are biased towards it, you have no hope.
I have a documentary idea, much of which involves tyrannosaurs (especially tyrannosaurid tyrannosaurs) getting killed/eaten/ shown as sucking in many ways to other predators.

Not the biggest, or deadliest, or the most advanced.
Only remarkable thing is its bite and that is not as deadly as people think.

Seriously, this was an underdog that was kept down by carnosaurs until a mass extinction happened, and even then tyrannosaurs were prey for crocodiles.
This is why I'm mad at PD-even though it didn't show this species, it blatantly said tyrannosaurs were superior, and wiped out the carnosaurs with superior intellect (in reality both groups would be intelligent) and bitepower (which actually makes their bite less deadly....).
The book said carnosaurs were simple beasts that couldn't hold a candle to the tyrannosaurs.
I hate PD. If you are trying to raise awareness on carnosaurs by excluding T. rex, why say that?

Because tyrannosaurs had avian intelligence whereas the carnosaurs had crocodilian intelligence.Β The King is not the biggest, but with its brainpower to hunt in family packs and the most powerful bite of any land animal, it didn't need to be.

Avian and crocodilian intelligence is at the same level.Β Crocodiles use tools.
The supposedly higher intellect of T. rex is a myth. Just because its brain cavity was larger does not mean it was smarter.

Because everyone believes that myth even many scientists.
Crocs have small brains. Crocs use tools via learning.

Crocs hunt in random, unorganized gangs.Β Most birds actually form family structures.

acepredator In reply to Jdailey1991 [2014-12-27 14:39:16 +0000 UTC]
Crocs do hunt in organized packs at times. And birds usually are the ones that hunt in gangs (there are some exceptions)
And I was talking about the fact crocodiles use tools (bait), which debunks your claim of small brains leading to stupidity.

It's not the Rex's fault; he cannot help that he represents the pinnacle of coelurosaurian therapod technology - the penultimate hunter and king of its domain. Just looking at the skeleton of one of those bruisers should give a clue as to why it's so popular with all who see it. But yes, it is given a great deal of disproportionate attention compared to all the other wonderful examples of Dinosaurs out there.

acepredator In reply to Gustauve-Drakenhime [2014-12-21 22:57:40 +0000 UTC]
It is far from the penultimate hunter. It is only about as advanced or intelligent as every other top predator (which is as far as you can go in terms of being advanced), it is far from the biggest (Largest top predator is Megalodon, followed by Libyatan), and it is limited to smaller terrestrial prey (the sauropods that carnosaurs took, and the sharks spinosaurs hunted, were off limits)

I agree. For as much as I like T.rex, Media really needs to find another Large Theropod to use for a bit. What happened to the interest in Allosaurus, guys?

Indeed. I'd rather we, as a society, βgrow upβ, so we can appreciate more then one thing at a given time. Tyrannosaurus is a lovely animal, but it's place in the food chain doesn't make it any better or worse then any other species.
