Description
I'm no good when it comes to speeches, but here goes nothing.
Eighteen years ago today, an attack happened on the USA that should never be forgotten. On that morning, al Qaeda Islamic terrorists hijacked four planes: one aiming for the twin towers in New York City, one aiming for the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and one aiming for the White House. The first three hit their targets, while with the fourth plane, the passengers fought back valiantly against these terrorists. As a result, they ended up crashing in a field in Pennsylvania.
But that wasn't the end of it. Not long after the planes crashed into the Twin Towers, both of these towers collapsed. More deaths happened, and those who survived were rescued by firefighters, police, and search-and-rescue dogs. Heck, even those doing the rescuing had some who died while rescuing people.
That was a death toll of almost 3,000 people in one day, and why? Because some people out there felt the need to spread dominance and fear by launching these senseless attacks on everyday people. I've heard of the phrase, "People don't forget. Nothing gets forgiven", and I can see that with this. People are definitely not going to forget this, and it's very hard to forget or forgive those who carried out this awful act; as for those who did the attacks, they'll be awaiting judgment from God in the end.
And in spite of that, a day after the attacks, America actually rose together as one. No matter who was who (Republican or Democrat, man or woman, white or black, straight or gay, religious or non-religious), people were all united on that day. That goes to show that in spite of the terror that happened that day, America would always stand tall if everyone would stand together as a united country. In doing so, we honor those who were tragically killed, to make sure that they will never be forgotten.
Now I was only a kid when this happened, and I can't fully remember anyone's reaction on that day, but now I know what this day means to everyone. So, my fellow Americans, shall we stand together like people did on that terrible day?
