Description Hello everyone! I know I haven't been posting regularly, which is something I hope to fix.

This painting is a study on clouds, which is a subject I've become very interested in lately. I actually have a video tutorial on how I made this in the making. If you are interested in seeing some tutorials, please let me know!

This looks quite awesome! I love te clouds, couldn't make hope to make them as good as that. I have no idea how people can even paint in acrylic, as I can't, but this is great work.

Thank you so much for your comment! I used water to give the acrylic a more transparent look. You should definitely try acrylic again, with the right techniques it gives awesome results

Hello, i'm here from

This is a canvas that one could stare at all day and dream away.

Your painting of clouds is very good. The use of different color tones and brushstrokes is very well executed. You’ve created a good feel of depth and texture in the clouds by using this technique. Also making the colors fade to bright and light enhances the depth.

Without the plane, if you would ask me how to hold this canvas I would hold it with bright on the top and dark at the bottom. The flow and form of the clouds also give you the feel that the canvas should be tilted. It would strengthen the feel of depth and infinity.

The plane itself has to little detail to actually look like a plane. It also looks like this was not painted put drawn with a marker and ruler. It does not have the impressionistic touch that the clouds have.

If I had to suggest some change it would be to lose the plane and the couple of hairs in the painting. This is a subject that you should  definitely paint again. The bigger the better.

This is definitely something that people would put up on ther wall. I know i would.

Thank you so much for your detailed comment. I agree about the plane I added it in photoshop on impulse. Wrong decision.

If it was added in photoshop end not on the real piece removing it will be no work at all.
Keep making those beautiful cloudscapes, they are beautiful.

The rendering of the clouds is nothing short of excellent - would say as far as acrylics allow, the clouds are far into the upper end of the envelope; not quite Chris Foss, but very accomplished.
When taking a closer look at the plane, it however becomes somewhat jarring that the clouds are extremely detailed while the plane itself is not - the lines are only vaguely recogniseable as an aircraft at all. However, that criticism may be irrelevant since as an acrylic painting, the piece is probably intended to be framed and viewed from a wall, not from a screen inches from the viewer's face and with convenient zoom tools.
I apologize if this is somewhat downbeat. This is a very well done piece with an impressive milieu, and admittedly my interest in aviation obscures the forest with trees.

Thank you! I agree about the plane. I just recently became interested in clouds as a subject, so this is mostly a test run. I appreciate your detailed comment.

I'm glad to hear, and - having admittedly posted before looking at the rest of your gallery - I rather regret focusing on the plane because obviously, you know this. Your work is plain astounding, especially your Winter landscapes.
If I may return to it briefly, however, by strange coincidence I thought of this painting earlier today and realised that indeed, the shape of the plane actually does look like an existing craft: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartin…
Not one that is flying today, but still.
I wouldn't suggest altering this piece, but if you stay in the clouds in the future, maybe keeping painting abstract planes from imagination might be a idea. Who knows, you've already made one aviation enthusiast happy.

(... I'm also here from :constructive: , but I'm usually too shy to hoist the standard)

(And maybe that's as well, because apparently I haven't figured out how to hoist it yet)

Heya!  I'm coming in from

This is a very lovely study on clouds and I personally think that you did a wonderful job with the laying of colors on those clouds.  I can see not just blues and grays but also yellows to add contrasting warmth towards the light source, which was an excellent choice and beautiful idea.  I like how the closer to light source we get, the more subtle the cloud texture.  The texture in the shadows is really well done and gives more life to the clouds but the easy transition to the light adds to the atmosphere here.   It makes it look like the plane is trying to outfly and incoming storm and making it into safer skies.  The mood here really helps sell that idea.

Unfortunately I feel like a lot of detail is lost due to the size of the image (and thus the compression) as well as the watermarked; there is more I wish to see!  This image of the canvas teases me, which is quite a good thing, but there is more I want to take a look at!  Also, I’m not sure if it’s the compression or the canvas, but there is some white spots on the dark side that are a little distracting.  Overall this is a lovely painting and awesome cloud study!

Hi, thank you so much for the comment. I will definitely keep the watermark thing in mind. They do tend to be annoying.

I have to say that I was hoping to see something a little more fluid, a little more realistic. The pixelization (for lack of a better word) takes away from the picture - for me.

Also, watermarking. It's the way watermarking is done that can take away from a picture. In this particular case, the watermark is right in the middle and the eyes (at least mine) are drawn to that instead of the picture itself. Watermarking can be subtle without being distracting, but when it is made almost as significant as the picture, then you have a conflict - to me.

I personally, would have preferred something more natural looking.

I know what you mean. I'll definitely be trying to refine it in the future and make it look more realistic. I realized after finishing that it looked better from the side. But oh well lol
