This time i used 3 separate layers for masking. The bird, the duck's eye, and the background.

I increased the focus/sharpness of the main subject and then increased the blurriness on the background layers.

From here it was a matter of playing with the colours.

In this case I upped the the saturation and vibrancy to what seemed to be appropriate for the subject and reduced the saturation and vibrancy for the background.
