OMG Mario Fanart!! *party time*Here's a picture I particularly liked working on : it depicts Mario on his natal Brooklyn, ideally before he landed in the Mushroom Kingdom. I'm aware of the fact I didn't use the old colour scheme on a scene that particularly asks for it, but after a couple trials at different states in the colouring process I thoroughly hated how it looked like, so I just gave up. Anyway the sepia look make the colours fade a bit so it's not too much of an issue. I used a few references to get the Brooklyn-like background acceptable, but most of the infrastructures here are fictive.
This thingie is completely drawn in Adobe Illustrator, then brought into Adobe Photoshop for the colouring job.
P.S.: I know there are a lot of contentiousness surrounding Mario's origins, as to know if he's born in Brooklyn or in The Mushroom Kingdom. I ask you to keep that topic at a minimum, please. I don't wanna start a debate. Just comment on the pic, and everyone will be happy. Thanks.

While some of the cartoons and comics may not be canon, they're still part of the Mario Multiverse, like at one point where the Mario Bros. love Italian food because of their heritage, particularly pasta or pizza.

I like the Brooklyn theory more because:
1. He's been that way since 1983 (until 1995?)
2. Baby Mario is a different character (why does he appear with Mario in the spinoffs?).
3. Babies do not come with storks. I bet the people at Nintendo received the WRONG talk. (A.K.A. "Where do babies come from?")
4. IT'S THE SUPER MARIO BROS. SUPER SHOW! (90's kids would orgasm at the nostalgia)
5. If the MK only has mushroom people, THEN WHY WOULD HE BE BORN THERE? (Nintendo: 'CAUSE FUCK LOGIC!)

May I debunk this?
First of all, have you even PLAYED Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time? Baby Mario is Mario from the past, as a baby.
Secondly, the stork idea is because it's supposed to be child-friendly. Seriously, do you expect Nintendo to show children Mario and Luigi coming out of the heart-shaped box?
Third, the Super Mario Bros Super Show is not canon.
Next, are you saying Princess Peach, the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom (where you assume only has Mushroom people), ISN'T human?
And finally, while Mario Bros from 1983 IS canon, it said that they were warped to the Mushroom Kingdom afterwards.
I'm not wanting to be mean, but if you're going to make a theory or point out stuff, get your facts straight, please.

I think he was born in Mushroom Kingdom(kind of revealed in Yoshi's island),was attacked along with his bro by Bowser,after awhile moved to the "Real World" of Brooklyn(It could be in the same Mushroom Universe or a different dimension of Earth),then returned in a mishap plumbing service and ruined Bowser's plans.

theres a big debate in that topic. but im not going to far into it. its not really official if the mario bros did indeed come from Brooklyn. me coming from new york in the bronxs can almost see a relation but then again the brooklyn part could come from the person who was based on the land lord Mario Segale.

WEll the Brooklyn theory seemed plausible, and all, until they came with the game Yoshi's Island, which completely messed up Mario's origin, what with him being born in the Mushroom Kingdom.
I like to think that BOTH can be true somehow.

Maybe Mario was born in the Mushroom Kingdom, but because of the war between the mushrooms and the koopas his parents decided that it wasn't safe to raise him. So when Mario was still a baby, his parents warp-piped to Brooklyn, dropped him off at a random house, and before they could get back in time Bowser cacthes them and burns them to crisp. Thus, Mario has no idea what the Mushroom Kingdom is nor does he know about his real parents until that faithful day when he gets sucked down the warp pipe and suddenly finds his real birthplace.
