Absolutely beautiful. I love it. The lines and fur texture of her is amazing. The coloration is superb. It's a unique piece with style, design, and skill. The fading black to white background really gives the center, the wolf, a great effect of darkness and light.
But, there are somethings I am not fond of. For example, the things around her ankles. While they are unique, I feel they take away from the nature and beauty of the piece, giving her a darker, more painful view. Also, the accessories on her feet and ankles are black, which blends right into the background.
But, it is an amazingly well done and unique wolf, and I wish you good luck with a name and reference sheet. May I suggest Lola?

Yes, but I really would have appreciated it if you had asked me before using my work for your user Id photo. I really only let people use my work when I'm given full credit ON the image, I'm not sure how well I like it being used as an ID picture.

I say Lola. When I saw her it popped into my head as a snazzy, classy, tough girl name.

Hahahahahaha XD Here's a tip... it took like 14 years to get this good and it's still not all that great LOL. A good way to go, is look around dA for dog bodies, and poses (references, not other's real art, get the stuff they put up to help others) and TRACE. Trace trace trace until your hand pretty much remembers the pattern of it. The move on to just looking at it and drawing it.

Really? Do you mean like dog linearts or something? Where would I look for that (which category?) So it would be OK to trace that? Thanks for the tip Tazi.

No not lineart. References. Like this. [link]
Search "dog" (or whatever animal) in dA and refine the search from resources & Stock Images > Tutorials. When tracing, don't ever claim it's your, preferably don't upload it. It's just for practice. You can however use things as a reference and upload them, because you DID draw it. But it's always best to just use these things as practice, and then once you can create it from memory or create your own characters/poses you can upload them and take all the credit.

Ah! OK. Thanks for your help. Is this devation a Saluki? You've inspired me to get better at this. Thank you.
So, if and when you get the ref sheet up, can you please add in a little detail about how you do the body? I mean, specifically the back legs and the abdomen, how you make it look 'skinny,' I say for want of a better word. I'm looking up tuts/ref sheets for this right now but don't see much for the abdomen. I'll keep looking. Thanks for your help so far.

Oh! So it's now a he! Lol! Garret. Cool name.
That would be great thanks. I've been looking at your other imis too. The older ones. I just wouldn't know where to start... The head might be good to start with. I'm gonna look up even more tuts for this - I'm planning to make a few rough sketches on paper first tonight.

Mhmm. Get a feel for the main shape of a dog's anatomy and head/body shape before really getting into lines and fine details.

Yep. I will. I've been googeling a lot tonight too. I did manage to get some sort of sketch (done on PSE) done tonight. I couldn't find my pad so I just did something rough (very rough) on the computer with the Bamboo Fun and it didn't turn out well. I just discarded it but the next sketch will be tomorrow and on paper.
I'll google dog anatomy and look up loads more tuts on here too.
