Description This took me several attempts. Several.

this is based on fanfic of said title that to be honest I'm a long way of doing at moment. I like to think this scene tells a story then just a senseless scrap. Also I am a big fan of having eyes as the major theme.

And yes the eyes in the middle are in fact the eyes of a Disney villain, there is one more clue on the pic that states who it is but that would be telling.

Other difficulty was that Elsa herself is a 3D computer generated  while Maleficent was from the golden age of 2D drawing so there was a clash over the right setting. (I'll admit the yellow fire by the dragon was bit of a error on my side, by then I was midway through that so stuck with it)

Just to clarify 'Dark Elsa' was further prompted by the lack of creativity in the 'evil' Elsa concept art originally by Disney, I wanted to show you can do more then make her Hades 2.0

Elsa has more powers then just palm fire control, cryokiness, telekinesis, snow manipulation, creating life, ice cream manipulation and hydrokinesis. Elsa also has magic and rainstorm manipulation. Elsa has not unlocked all of her powers and potential yet. Elsa has not used all of her cryokinetic and hydrokinetic powers. Elsa and Dark Elsa have much potential and are not Omega Mutants at this time right now. So Elsa would loose the fight at this point in time. Elsa would still loose the fight even if she switched her personality to Dark Elsa.

Maleficent came out right after Frozen was released on video, so naturally there was much talk about both films.  It had come up that what if there was a duel between Elsa and Maleficent...who would really win.

Nice to see someone actually made a really cool drawing of that scenario.

Great Job!

The biggest challenge with the drawing was depicting elsa in this situation, she for the most part has sheltered herself from her own problems (being the control of her power where she fears it)

In short Elsa has no history/experience of resolving conflict and challenges (be it personal etc) so when things go bad it will escalate quickly, for that reason Elsa has no fighting pose, and is locked onto Maleficent because she's tunneled vision by her own emotion. Instead of fearing her power, she is using that power to be feared to her enemy, uanware how that concept is consuming her rationale with black acting as a symbol of corruption (and the pun of black ice)

(Of course you never forget black ice once you slip on it!)

I could have picked the 'evil elsa' design concepts but other then it wasn't what I looking for, also I wasn't a fan of the designs. But I needed to do a design change with Elsa to reflect her seriousness and to invoke the more villainous aspect of the snow queen source without it appearing over the top.

That is an interesting insight to Elsa's situation.   But this scenario has come up before and I would say in a surprise encounter  in which Maleficent has the upper hand...she would easily win.   I would say she is without a doubt the more powerful of the two.   HOWEVER, Elsa's magic works faster and her ice forming abilities are instant.  In a face to face confrontation, Elsa would easily get the upper hand and could turn Maleficent into an ice cube before she begins to conjure up a magic spell.

Of course we were going back and forth on this in another thread and it has been observed that Maleficent always uses some kind of wrist twist to cast a spell.  So if her hands are restrained, more then likely she cannot cast a spell.

So my take on it is in a face to face confrontation, Elsa has the upper hand.   But in a surprise attack, Maleficent has the upper hand. All it takes is for Maleficent to distract Elsa long enough to get a good wrist flip in.

In the end though I love both ladies very much and I wouldn't want to see them in a confrontation with each other, but this is a 'what if' scenario only.   But is is rather obvious that my personal feelings and interest are much greater for Maleficent.   Heck, I even wrote a fanfic which parallels the movie, but places and emphasis on a romantic relationship between her and Diaval.

You did well with the drawing, and nothing is over the top.  Everything looks great.

From yesterday starting work on a comic of this, because why the hell not. though the art will be taken up with another artist while i provide script, but should have time to include sketches. Fun/Stressful times ahead!

Thank you, I'm happy of the result, but as for 'trying' to get it done that wasn't so happy to do!

#1 The art is beautiful and amazing! #2 This would make a better movie than Maleficent.

The art was also painstakingly hard to do, the number of screwed up paper thrown into the bin...if done on a daily basis I might actually had gotten enough shots of practice to go on and play basketball!

Well the movie was (Maleficent) was ok, my gripe was it was a more glossed up fanfic of Maleficent being misunderstood instead of what she was, unapologetically antagonistic. I might as well voie on my choices on this: the black on elsa isn't random, It shows as dark transformation on her ice powers, manipulated by the entity in the middle, in other words she's creating 'black ice' An actual term (ice you can't see)

In the world of Disney though anything with black/dark becomes a more supernatural and even sinister element, in my opinion having her form 'black ice' is a better way to make elsa look like she's at the blur between two lines whilst not going to the very out of character routine (battle armour, swords etc) I noticed in the film that when Elsa turns on the two would be assasins her ice becomes 'sharper' just as the ice first did when her powers were exposed. Her mind is the limit of what she can do, though it's the emotions that determine how she crafts the ice and snow, if fear is the enemy, then hate will be the end. That was my intent with this.

Oh, I see: very creative and in depth.

Sigh....  there are many things I could rant on about. I will say that I am not the ultimate hater, I can see good things about it (like Diaval... like the Scarecrow in Howl's Moving Castle, he was the best character of the film).
