I refuse to wither away

I used to have grand, golden wings
Of beauty and splendor.

With a tongue that was at one moment

And at the next, sharp and metallic.

I used to be invincible
With my impenetrable heart
Of gold and iron.

But that's all changed now…
Because of you.

You came into my Utopia
With your sultry, exotic looks
And breezy but careful charm.

You ruined me
My beauty
My charm
My heart
My soul
Myself

Now I'm nothing.

You clipped my wings and tore them
Until they were bare and useless.
You poisoned my charm and soiled my words
Until they were insecure and timid.
You stole my heart and held it for ransom
Until it cried and finally died.
