After watching The Legend of The Seeker and being subjected to Richard with whiny teenage angst, I felt the desire to doodle an older, more mature and proper Richard. This is hardly perfect by any means, since I struggle with realism, but I think it turned out okay. Maybe I'll tackle Richard again sometime and do him proper justice.Related content

I adore the fact that you also seem to dislike legend of the seeker 
1. They killed off Denise like she was nothing, just a girl who can ride a horse. They made her die from an arrow hitting her, what the heck? Denise's death was much more dramatic, with her dress ripped and torn from being raped by a quad and tossed on the side of the road with a horrible wound to die. She had been walking to greet Khalan from a confession that she had been meant to go to, but Khalan had gone to in her place because she knew Denise hated them.
Anyway, keep up the drawings

I like it it is very good. actually it looks like one of my own works. keep at it your realism is better than you think,, just look at my stuff. i know it isn't the best but, hey, you have to start somewhere.

He looks great! I found that when trying to draw realism, the most important thing is shading. Look at a photo of a person. They shading is SO immense. And typically there are a LOT of black spots. Anyway, hope that will help in your growth as an artist

It's probably not how I see him, but I think it's a closer interpretation than the Richard they have on the television show.

The one on the show is too short and has the wrong eyes. But I think he gives the right interpretation of richards spirit.

Sadly, I agree...this sketch has more testosterone than the Richard that they picked for the show. All the same, It looks very nice!

Wow, I love this!
Though it isn't exactly how I imagine Richard (I dare not even begin to visualize that little puberty-bound boy in Legend of the Seeker as Richard) there is definitely a few elements in there that bring him to mind; ie. "Raptor Gaze" "Young Authority" etc. etc.
Not to mention "out-of-this-world good looks!!"

Great picture. I agree with all the comments relating to the show. However, I never would have found the books if it weren't for the TV show. I'm still reading the series (I'm on Pillars of Creation), and I do think they've changed the story line too much for the show. I was really looking forward to seeing some parts of WFR come to life.. but they chose to leave them out!!

I think they rushed through Wizard's First Rule too much. They didn't give us time to know or even figure out if we liked the characters.

I agree. I totally ranted about the show on my blog too. I didn't go deep into the fast paced-ness of it, but I vaguely tossed it in there.
It was just.. it.. rrgh.. grawgh..

Never saw it, but what a fascinating piece of art - it has a certain compelling quality to it - I think it's the eyes.
