Description
This is page One of a four page part i did along with Udon for Enterbrain in Japan. The book this appears in is for sale in Japan right now : Street Fighter Art Comic Anthology and there hopefully is a good chance we will release this in North America as well. It is over 150 pages of colour work by all sorts of japanese manga artists.anywayyy, since posted 2 of his pages for it, i figured i'm in the clear to post mine also, heh.

Some people are fecking crazy! Thats a great picture man. Ok, the kick doesnt make sense but you didnt invent the damn thing. His belt is fine and Ken doesnt look fat at all. They both look like they should for Alpha. The only thing I can say that doesnt constitute ass-lickery is that I think the EX characters could have looked younger, but even thats minor.This picture kicks fecking ass, like most things you do. I would tell you to pay no mind to these people but I dont think I have to bother really. Youre making a living from this and im sure that you dont get hurt feelings about this kind of thing anymore. Keep it up man! I wouldnt mind seeing your art in a new game. Beats the shit out of the current street fighter character art! Maybe they could use your hoodied Guy for SSF4.

Oh,I see. Well shit, thanks for replying. I really wasn't expecting one. Just one question, and please be don't be polite for the sake of it. What do you think of the character artwork for SF4, specifically Ikeno as a Street Fighter artist. I personally think hes stuff looks like some very good fanart but I don't trust him with the job. Also, not mad about ANY of the new characters. Maybe it's just a case where Bengus and Kinu Nishimura(in particular) left some FUCKING HUGE shoes to fill. I would much prefair to see you and/or alvin lee take the reigns. I think you two care about the material a lot more than he does and im sure you'd come up with some imaginative new characters and not a Mokujin/Shang Tsung uninspired rip-off. Anyway, sorry for ranting on here and thanks again for the reply. Good luck!

SFIV art
with Nothin against Ikeno (as I'd much prefer his SF renditions from SFIII) I'm not in favour of the look of the character in SFIV.
I would never say 'just very good fanart', he's definitely proved time and time again that he's a wicked Capcom artist, but I'm not 100% loving his take in SFIV.
Put it this way, in SFIV some characters look better than others

Yeah, youre right. perhaps Im being too harsh for somebody in no position to be so critical. I should just focus on all the good stuff hes done for the other SFs. If I was him though, I probably wouldnt have submitted his more oddly proportioned character scetches in the SF4 gallery but maybe hes just more comfortable with his work than I am.

I suppose. To tell you the truth, I dont know anything about the bizz and really shouldn't presume. I have character designers built up too much in my mind, as if they make the games from scratch. Why would a games company give two shits about making them look good. They're just one stop in a game's developement. Anyway, I promise this is the last you'll hear on the subject. It's a Hell of a long time to be talking about feck all. Thanks for your time spent trying to put me straight. You can now use all that effort on something more important and worthwile!
