Description I love hand-processing my photography, 'cause that makes this possible. There is no computer manipulation here except for resizing and straightening.
The background image is one of my contact sheets from my friend's party and hurricane footage.

Vive la Darkroom!

I absolutely HATE photomanipulation. I hate "automatic" settings. I hate "autofocus". I think all of that is cheating. I feel the real "soul" of photography is in that moment when you take a picture, and if it's not perfect focus or color or whatever, then it shouldn't be changed on a computer, because you had your shot, as an artist, to alter all that...and you didn't. You either get the shot, or you don't. And in using a computer to change that, you lose the "soul"... Also, using a computer where darkroom technique can do the same...pisses me off. You cannot even begin to consider yourself a "photographer" unless you know the history, the fucking basic techniques that DEFINE photography.
Sorry, I kinda went off on a tangent. I really get into this discussion because photography is truly what I'm passionate about, despite the other things I do (like drama, chorus...)
Thanks for the comment

*nods* I understand completely, it is a matter of debate with others I talk to, most of them just....spend their time on the computer to make what they think "a work of art." You are very right (with great reasons) that photo manipulation is a way of cheating. That if one had true vision , you wouldn't have to alter your work, you'd just take the shot. Whilst using one's "soul" instead of shrugging it off of the bad angle or something and think "oh I can just edit that on computer.."
You have very excellent points, its unfortunate that others don't see your perspective.
You're very welcome!
