bizarrely, this picture reminds me of a picture of a pregnant woman by richard avedon. it's similar in its side-angle with the woman cluthing herself with a passlingly-similar thumb. because her top was see-through, it would be easy to see it as one of so-many slightly cheapening shots (because of(over)sexualizing pregnancy...), but it wasn't like that. i always found it strangely affecting. maybe i can find it and link it here. (couldn't...maybe soon if you're interested).
the words remind me of one of my favorite poems ever. strangely (i think), i haven't read that many poems. it's a war poem written by an american or british soldier during the vietnam war. it's two-part. the first paints a scene of bucolic gentleness and in the next, everyone is dead. i might be able to locate it. it's in the library and i have to go soon. i don't think i have it. i mean, not that anyone but me is interested in it... but still.
