I tried to make a wallpaper. I really hope it works!Anyway, I decided to go for a simplistic look and explore what I guess is the ruins of the Mushroom Kingdom or something. I really wanted to differentiate the foreground from the background, so I used a more "crayony, fuzzy, grainy" brush... I sure hope I didn't totally screw up! ^u^
Also, the sun is now a shine sprite.... idk why, I guess it's because the idea of an angry sun in an otherwise (supposedly) peaceful environment was a bit off.
Please, comment and tell me if this works, what I could do to make better wallpapers, etc. Thanks, guys!

This is utterly astounding!!! I love the soft, smooth, cartoony style and the background is so well drawn. Simple, yet still detailed.

Of your art styles, this painted style is my favorite. It has great use of different shades of color (see the grass for a perfect example), nice lighting and shading, and vivid, appealing colors. Simple effects like the puffs for clouds work perfectly here. The blurriness of certain aspects (like, say, the grass tufts in front of the bottom of the trees) look great within the style as well.
And this is a nice landscape! I love the hill being higher on the left side than the right, and the use of sparse trees. I know it's Mario-themed, but it feels rather Breath of the Wild to me. That game has lots of beautiful random groves and miniature forests and springs and other random little discoveries that are fun to make, which seem to be pretty just for the sake of being pretty. They add little to the gameplay (except a hidden Korok seed, generally) but a ton to the experience.

Thank you! I really appreciate your feedback. And tbh, the "Breath of the Wild" aspect was what I was trying to go for, especially with the grass. I always liked the color scheme of the grass in botw, the mix of a sort of minty green but with that nice yellow hint to it. Made it seem alive, yet colorful and not too realistic.

Yeah. And it's hard to get a lot of detail when you're going lineless. Lines allow for a lot of detail, as much as can be fit depending on the thickness/thinness of the line. But without lines, you have to use colors, light and shading to indicate detail. And a lot less can be put into that.

I'm wondering how your painting style could translate to water as well as grass. Like an island looking out at the water, or by the water.
And one of my OCs (the one from this series ) crossing over with Choco. (I like OC crossovers), on the island together.
Something like that.
Either that, or a forest similar to the ones in Breath of the Wild, but with water in the distance and maybe a puddle or pond or something. (I love water too)

Aaah, sounds like an interesting idea. I'm actually working on another wallpaper now. It doesn't have any water in it this time, but it does have a lovely forest with some nice tree highlights. Maybe I'll do water in the future tho.

Sounds pretty good! Of all your styles so far, I'd say this painting style is the most "polished". But that's not something to be discouraged over, it means you have something that looks great, and can work on improving the other styles.

Yes. I always use a sketch. After I did the sketch, I just lowered the opacity and painted in a layer under it.
Just take it a little at a time. Don't be overwhelmed. :3
