Description Just a quick sketch then color all in SAI to see if it could be done. And seeing what could be done in the program.

I also wanted to make her eyes appear blind, or very light in color that's always intrigued me.

Any name suggestions for this girl? I'm thinking of drawing a few reoccurring girls I draw with unique personalities.

I'm liking Valeria, which ~Strengian suggested

Thanks for stopping by, comments always welcome!!

It does looks pretty neat, I thought it helped sell her being blind a bit better for sure!

Thank ya!

What software do you use for this? Do you use a line tool for the body outline? Great stuff!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCosbinator In reply to MatthewPhelan [2011-02-06 19:32:58 +0000 UTC]

I used a program called paint tool SAI in which I used the brush tool for the lines. I cant stand creating the lines like in illustrator. I don't have that kinda patience.

The difference between doing it in Sai vs. Photoshop would be the "Stabilizer" function. Which steadies the brush and give that natural smooth feel/look that you can achieve on paper, or a Cintiq.

I could prob make an image or video showing my settings and what I do sometime.

Let me figure out how to record my screen and whatnot(I do know how to edit), A few people have asked so I may just put it up on youtube how my process is for something like this.

That would be great, your stuff rocks! Maybe with a voice over too, speed drawing loses a lot with explanation of process ya know! Cant wait!

I'm afraid that when I look at her the only words in my head are 'Hello, little girl.'

I don't think the attempt to make her look blind worked, but that's as much because the angle hides her irises as anything else. It's a really cool idea.

Aside from the usual beautiful drawing, I especially like the combination of the dress color and the color you used to outline it. A great combination but very unusual.

TheCosbinator In reply to ProgressiveCarousel [2011-01-21 21:42:37 +0000 UTC]

Awesome, thank you. I was originally going to go with a complete white. But I've heard it's best to use a very light color as a shade of white since nothing is ever TRUELY white.

So yea it looked interesting when I was playing with the Hue/Sat sliders.

I'm glad happy you noticed!

Big-Bouk [2011-01-20 21:01:48 +0000 UTC]

nice work and i have a question. when you ink your sketch and after you color all your thing how do you color your line art

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCosbinator In reply to Big-Bouk [2011-01-21 03:31:53 +0000 UTC]

Very easy, In Photoshop, of course you would have your line art on a separate layer. In the layers pallatte there is the word "Lock:" with 4 options, the checker board one, or "Lock Transparent Pixels" allows you to color on your lines and ONLY on the lines.

If you wanted to say, erase a line you did not like. You would have to unlock your lineart layer, erase it, Lock Transparent Pixels again, than go back to coloring.

Whaalaa! There are quite a few tutorials on this subject matter here on deviant art if I made it too complicated haha.

and Thank you!
