I've been drawing a lot more backgrounds recently,But... I will just keep practicing. lol

Sweet! Haha, you spotted her!

Those few at the bottom all have the same face, since I liked how it turned out. I just wanted to see if I could make different bodies for it.

Thank you!

Love it, hmm I should keep my sketches I really need to buy a new book, I've just been churning out reams of printing paper and throwing them out.

Thank Ya! You should I really enjoy seeing sketches! I know that whole stacks of paper business, I've wasted so much paper that way. haha

Nowadays I either do it digitally, or fill up absolutely every space in a sketch book.

Sweeet thank you! I'm a HUGE fan of Marilyn Monroe as I always attempt to capture her essence in the girls I draw. Or even her looks.

Cool! mermaids are fun to draw even though it feels a bit like I'm slacking off since I'm not drawing their legs

Ohh, how I love rough sketches! There's so much life and energy; they're fantastic! The mermaids here are really fun, and the girl with the gun ain't bad, either. Looking back now, I do wish I'd held my left arm out a little further away from my body so you could see the curve of my back easier... oh well, next time!

Also, I should be uploading the second of my more pin-up-inspired "behind the scenes" photos today; I'll shoot you a link when I do.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCosbinator In reply to jesspark [2011-02-13 21:10:21 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Same, I like seeing how different artist construct figures and what lines they use. The lines that people don't erase in sketches often say so much.

You spotted it! lol Getting that nice silhouette with a pose I imagine would be hard as a model. I mean, all I would have to do is erase it, to make it happen. ><

That'd be great!! I look forward to doing practice sketches of them!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jesspark In reply to TheCosbinator [2011-02-14 02:53:48 +0000 UTC]

Tell me about it -- if only I had an eraser IRL! My husband's usually pretty good about spotting issues with negative space, but I was taking a break and just goofing off in that shot; it just happened to turn out to be a cool pose, unfortunately wrecked a bit by my arm getting in the way. Now I know to pay better attention even during those "just playing around" moments, because you never know when you'll accidentally get something awesome!

And here are a couple of pin-up-esque photos; they're the same pose, just with different head angles and facial expressions:

Since they're only "behind the scenes" snapshots from a shoot that I did with an awesome local photographer, I doubt I'll upload them here to dA. I hope you like them, though! If you get any good practice sketches, you'll have to show me.

Hehe, yeah it turned out to be an interesting pose.

Oooh, very nice pictures. Taking a look at the pictures on your facebook page got me seeing you did a live model for a sketch group. Holy- I'm kicking myself for not knowing about this.. ah well, I may try to attend any future sketch sessions they have in the future. Live model sketching looks like so much fun! (I mean, if the greats all did it, and animators at Disney. I need to get in on doing it) I hope to start regularly attending a place that does it around where I live in Ormond Beach.

If I use the photos for sketch practice, I will indeed show ya!

Thanks for being so nice.

Dr. Sketchy Orlando was sooo much fun! Since I modeled Abbey Chase and Jess Jennings for them, they've changed their name (they're now "Mystery Sketch Theater"), their meeting date (first Wednesday of every month) and their location (a comic shop called, literally, "A Comic Shop"), but they're still doing their thing. I'd love to pose for them again some time, or even try to get back into sketching, myself; I miss it. I think live-figure drawing is so cool -- I hope you can start attending the Ormond Beach sessions!

And thank *you* for being so nice! It's awesome when artists are as nice as they are talented.

TheCosbinator In reply to jesspark [2011-02-18 05:19:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that sounds really cool! I will plan on going to the next one than, seeing Feb's has already passed.

That'd be really neat for you to pose there or even going to draw!! You know, this past Wednesday I *actually* went to a live model drawing session for the first time. It was a lot of fun! Compleeeettlyyy different than drawing from photos, I seemed to do o.k. at it, it was a blast!

Aww, I guess that's artists in general for ya. I was shocked to see how nice people are on this site, especially with the name "deviant" in it's title.

jesspark In reply to TheCosbinator [2011-02-23 07:32:34 +0000 UTC]

Oo, I'm so looking forward to next month! I can't wait to see what you come up with.

And I meant to ask this earlier... I like to post drawings commissioned, inspired, or suggested by me to my public Facebook page, and I was wondering: would you mind terribly if I reposted the portion of this sketch with my Abbey pose? Naturally, I would credit you and include a link back to your deviantART gallery! If you're not comfortable with that, of course, I won't do it, but I think this sketch is just adorable, and I'd love to share it if that's okay with you.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCosbinator In reply to jesspark [2011-02-23 09:25:45 +0000 UTC]

Of course!! Although it was merely a sketch and I could do a lot better esp. in your likeness. But I'd be honored, I will have more soon I promise!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jesspark In reply to TheCosbinator [2011-02-23 09:53:03 +0000 UTC]

Aww, thank you so much! I'll put it up tomorrow! (Um, later today. Gosh, is it almost five AM already?)

I ended up cropping it down to only the part with your Abbey sketch and the hand, feet, and pose thumbnail above that, but I'll include a link to the original deviation so people can see the rest of the sketchdump in its entirety. I know you say it's "merely" a sketch, but I love it! Anything more would be beyond wonderful.
