Ok...I have no excuse for this whatsoever XD
But I decided, seeing as I've drawn one neglected disney character, I might as well do one who was totally bullied
Anyone who's read "Alice in Wonderland" (one of my favourite childhood stories) will know that there are two major characters from the book who were completely neglected in the movie....and that's the Gryfon and the Mock Turtle (a cow/turtle hybrid.....'tis the thing mock-turtle soup is made from
)When I was little, I didn't really pay much attention to this, but now I'm a little dissapointed that two perfectly decent characters (with epic songs and nonsense rhymes) were ignored in, not just the 2D Alice, but Tim Burton's film too (does anyone else think the lobster quadrille would have been a way more fitting dance at the end? Not that the mad hatter...break dancing wasn't hilarious
)ANYWAAAAY, I happened to find, on youtube (where else?) on a related video, an old advert (for...wait for it.....JELL-O!
) where both characters make their only appearence on screen in the disney style so I used the reference to draw the meek little sweetie, the mock turtle. Hope you like him! you can find the advert here

Omg I heard this character along with the Griffon (Griphon in the novel), Duchess, baby, and the cook were intended to be in this film. I really wish they did.

yeah, I'm surprised they didn't make a movie version of "through the looking glass" as that's where the Jabberwocky appears. This is why I really love the live-action one with Whoopie Goldberg in it (as the Cheshire cat) because it features more of both books. I don't think the Jabberwocky is in that one though.

I think a film version of the games was announced a while ago, but I haven't heard if the project's been greenlighted yet...

Video game movies rarely go well (Wreck it Ralph is an exception but that was about video games themselves rather than bringing a video game story into our world so it doesn't really count) but I think this one could work as it's not grounded in the real world, it's set in somebody's head.
I always imagined it being that she was either going through a mental journey while lying in an asylum bed, with the wonderland residents resembling people from her past and/or the asylum OR that she was hallucinating the asylum as Wonderland (in the games doctors reports, she apparently attacked somebody because she thought they were the duchess and in the sequel events in reality and in wonderland overlap) OR that it was a bit of both. It leads to a lot of creative opportunities.

Yeah, like a much better version of The Cell... almost being ALL about someone's mind and psyche.
I do enjoy the ideas that people get from the game. I like the idea of characters representing people from her past - The Jabberwock represents her guilt, the Queen of Hearts represents her inability to let go of the past, for example.

haha we had this as our school play too. Sadly it was for younger years mostly, so I wasn't in it. Our mock turtle was good too, Cheshire cat was the best though

Geez! He looks to be such a SWEETHEART! I can't say I remember him (I haven't read those books in forever), but I can't believe they neglected the little guy! He's just so cute!

DURRHURR, I never knew that's why tortoises were called that because they taught us...I'm so stupid (I really am! XD)
I completely forgot about him too, then I read the books again and noticed that he was missing, it was sad, I would hate to be the Mock Turtle in that situation, as if he couldn't get any MORE depressed.
I was laughing the whole way through the ad though, I didn't know I could entertain people with Jell-o and the fact it's called "bright and colourful" and on the screen it's the darkest thing
Loving the Gryfon as well, I might draw him another day...might.
