Description
Toby is a tram engine, and is unique in that while most tram engines are electric (indeed), Toby is a steam tram. He meets Sir Topham Hatt and his family while they were on holiday around Toby's branch line. His branch line was then closed, but was recruited to work on Thomas's quarry line. This was by chance, as Thomas complained of having to look like a tram engine if he had to have sideplates and cowcatchers equipped in accordance with the new laws of the line. Sir Topham Hatt also made Henrietta his own personal coach for traveling, and she is almost always accompanied by Toby.
