My next fan art will feature them again. I plan on working on it once I finish another comic page I need to do (not DA-stuff; webcomic I work on).

Well, I didn't start out with it. I only had it for a little while at the start of Act 2 before he took Merrill's advice and shaved it down. xD Then on my second run, I didn't use it at all - like this comic implies, I decided that hairstyle occurs in between Acts 1 and 2. Mostly because in-game I can't put the sideburns on with the goatee at the same time, and he just doesn't look right without the sideburns unless he's bald. >_<

I'm anxious to see that then! They look like a very cute couple, and it's nice to see a hawke-merrill relationship in which hawke is not the 'strong man" and merrill the "fragile and stupid girl", he seems so much more human than that!

They went well with his first hairstyle, and Declan's first two.

Heh, yeah... Kenley is strong in the sense he's fairly mentally resilant, but he's still a "squishy mage." He's more of a grump with a soft spot than anything else.

Yeah, I get a little frustrated with the amount of fan works that depict Merrill as only stupid and fragile (unless it's done to be lulzily over-the-top for laughs). I never took her as stupid. Naive and ignorant at times, certainly (part of her charm! ) but stupid? No. She's actually pretty insightful and can have quite the dry sense of humor at times.

I only used it very briefly in my first play before switching to the balding-buzzcut style. The idea that maybe someone else was the one to suggest he shave his hair down is what sparked this comic.

No, no she doesn't. She's not stupid (talk to her about more academic and historical studies, and you see how smart she is), she's just been sheltered most of her life, even for a Dalish. It's left her with an... Interesting way of interacting with people. Like witnessing a mugging and finding it fascinating. xD Merrill and Isabela are easily my favorite DA2 characters.

I like imperfect heroes. Makes them more human, more relateable. Even the most extraordinary people in history had their flaws, both physical and in personality. History just makes them sound more epic and perfect once they've become icons of ideals and accomplishments.

I would love to make a chubby hero. My mage Warden was chubby in my head!canon, at least. And hey - the default male mage robes make them look a little chunky anyway, so it works!

He does But by act 3, even with short hair he barely has anything, so he just shaves it 100% bald. And grows a bigger beard to compensate . In fact, the whole reason he grew the goatee in the first place was to compensate for balding.
