drawing houses in art class made me want to draw something organic and twisted (i hate drawing angular shit) since i'd been outside sketching some stumps a few days before i started this, i decided to redo an older piece of mine, because i've been neglecting my melty cliffs and even more my graphite practice, i dont do much with pencils these days

older version: thedancingemu.deviantart.com/a…

i might fix some of it up a bit, tell me if you see anything that could use some help.

hit "download" for details, it doesn't look quite as good on my screen, kinda washed out, but i cant fix it anymore in PS :<

A soothing and poetic landscape... Simply wonderful! I prefere this new version of your drawing. I think the softness technique you used there works better... I have the same opinion about the theme of your art class, i love to draw organics things too!!

Normally, I'd say that cities or valleys in the clouds is something of an overdone concept, but you put a fresh, dreamlike spin on it. Very nice.

This came out so beautifully, I love the texture in the tree and the perspective is very unique and cool as well. Overall, "Very well done," is an understatement.

I think if you learned (unless I'm mistaken, and you already know how...) how to use air brush...I think you can make these pictures 10 times more magical than they already are. Honestly. Learning how is really annoying...and I know...but if you did I think you'd make some bomb ass pictures.

Love this. Love the clouds and the starts, I love the moon and the cheese like hunk of floating ground. Wonderful (::::

lol, i've never had someone describe my twisted landscapes as "cheese like" XD but i do agree, even though swiss cheese is nasty and tastes like vomit.

i've never used an airbrush, i haven't really thought about it but i would give it a try if i could, i don't know if i'd have the patience to really learn how though, i have a pretty short attention span :B

it is so dream like.. like to sit there in a warm (full)moon night with bright stars and no artificial lights disturbing.
I moved 2 years ago from the rim to the center of the city and I really miss the moonlight at night here so much.
The sky looks so good. I believe you spent a good amount time in coloring all the black around the little stars.
How about some Organic Houses? I once had an ides for one of my original races that are andro like Lemur Vary (ruffed lemur) who have tree-houses grown from kind of mushroom like tree parasite that is manipulated to overgrow in size and than die to form bubble like compartments.

i'd love to draw something like that, i've been trying to draw tree houses and cities for years. and i agree about the stars, i live in a rural area so i get to see a lot of stars, i'd miss them if i moved to the city

What a soft motion. Beautiful piece.
Somehow I like that original one more than this...it is clearer. Both are still nice anyway.

it may be because i inked the outlines of the original, i decided to try it without to see if i could do it. i'll still have to go back and work on this one a bit to see if i can darken it up a bit and give some areas a bit more contrast

This looks a million times better than the earlier version, especially the clouds. I agree that it's still a bit light for a night time scene, but it's still wonderful.

Very nice I just think it's kinda too light for a night scene, but realism sucks anyway hehe. I'm like you, i hate angular shit

thedancingemu In reply to prawnsushi [2007-11-21 23:14:44 +0000 UTC]

i agree its probably too light, i have i habit of doing that i think, i'll probably darken it some once i get around to it
