Yes this is a shameless UBW rip, no I apologize for nothing.I deliberately went out of my way to track down a backdrop like this here, as nothing else I can think of really properly sets the atmosphere for both this page and the next any better. As page 16 showed, the world of CCC Gensokyo is indeed a harsh and terrible one. But like it's always been said, it's darkest before the dawn.
So no matter how terrible it is, or how hard this new world is, the sun will still rise at the beginning of every new day, and there are still beacons of hope, and of life, in that ruined land. A wonderland of battle and terror, maybe, but there's always the light of a new dawn ahead.
So for all the darkness of the Clockwork Corpse Carnival, it's also a world of freedom, a world of possibility and opportunity for those with the courage, the smarts, and the will to grasp them. As for those out there who exemplify such things among the survivors...well, you'll see some of them in the next update.
Not much else to say here, but in the light of the last week, for those of you in the RWBY fandom in particular, I figured we could all use the sight of a new dawn ahead.
Godspeed, everybody, and I'll see you at the sunrise in a week with the more 'heroic' figures of the Carnival!

Heh. I feel this page could be done with more originality than just using UBW, but I have no idea of the how. XD Is this the end of the prologue? It certainly feels like it. XD I look forward to more from you, as always! You remain one of my favorite authors, and one of the few that withstand the test of time. XD Great going!

Yup, it probably could have, but honestly, given the short, simple nature of this page, I felt going with something equally simple, yet meaningful. A picture is worth a thousand words, as they say, and the wasteland of UBW has always been the biggest contender in that category for me. ^^
And nope, the prologue's not over just yet! Got a few more pages to go yet, but likely only two or three...maybe. :3

Aw, excellent just what I needed to see especially considering what happened in the latest chapter of Imperfect Metamorphosis.

I stopped reading over a year ago, I couldn't handle it.
But oh yeah, IM was one of the main benchmarks I kept in mind when making this. IM is grimdark, whereas CCC is meant to be grimGAR. I.e, sure, the setting is dark as all hell, but it's the gutsy, brave, bold, and wild characters that make it fun to read. Just because the setting is bleak and depressing and bitter is no reason that all of the characters need to be as well, after all.
Deathwave's rages and sociopathy, XIII's dissonant cheerfulness and mad science, Tenshio's hotblooded wildness, Leiden's seductive evil, Iku's calculating, clinical martial lightning...All intense, burning points scattered across this world so far. The chaos and hell of A-Day's effects are nothing more than a stage, in other words. This story is about rebuilding, for better or for worse, and the crazy, rock n' roll heroes, villains and antiheroes living in it.
And we haven't even started releasing our files on the Outside World yet~

Well, that's my day ruined.
Here's a protip: When I say I stopped reading a fic, particularly due to the overwhelming amounts of grimdark and depression, THAT IS NOT AN INVITATION TO TELL ME ABOUT THE AFOREMENTIONED GRIMDARK AND DEPRESSING SHIT.
Now I'm going to be here for the next few hours imagining how exactly that went down, to which the only way to answer that is by going back and reading. Which I swore not to do.
Tl;dr I stopped reading IM for a reason, and I avoid it because not knowing is much better for my peace of mind rather than simply hearing about it and then unwillingly ending up thinking about. I don't CARE how bad it's getting, I DON'T WANT TO KNOW. So kindly keep details to yourself in future.

Actually...he probably might not do too badly, to be honest.
Let's face it, this is exactly the kind of setting he'd be at home in, though with significantly less bloodshed.
It'd be like Carnival Phantasm all day every day. Except when it goes darker, but even then, I think he'd still manage. Granted, he'd be outclassed against some ofΒ the higher leveled bosses, but still.

Given that by and large Gensokyo is considered to be a yuri heaven, surprisingly he might only trip flags for far less than would be expected from a harem protagonist of his caliber...but then probably still way more than normal such protagonists. XD
