Description It has been long in coming, but FINALLY I've completed it!

The second part of the CARDINAL vs. and counterpart to this piece:[link]

CARDINAL.

The name given to the assembly of the four greatest rulers of Eternity's End. The four CEOs of the worlds mightiest corporations.

North, South, East and West. One to rule each corner of the world. And yet, their war rages not only against the world around them, but against each other as well. Always seeking to expand their territory, always seeking to control more of the world, too further fuel their dark ambitions.

One such battle is about to begin. Walter K. Black, the Iron King of the North, mechanized emperor of the WBRO, has finally risen to the challenge of his opposite number, Zarek V. Rubicon, the burning wraith of the South, energy incarnate.

Cold, ruthless and calculated logic, versus devious, everchanging and twisted strategy.

"It has been a while since our last clash, 'Iron King'! Perhaps this time you will learn to stay out of my territory!"

"I Should Be Saying That To You, Wraith. This Area Falls Under My Control. Back Down, Or Face The Consequences."

"So be it, then! I will erase you where you stand, Mechanical King! I am the cosmos incarnate, Aether given physical form! Whether you be man or machine, my power will make no distinction!"

"You Shall Try. For Now, It Seems As Though I Shall Be Able To Test My Anti-Energy Shells On You First, Rather Than That Irritating Darkbreaker. Come Then, Wraith Of The South!"

The roar of powerful engines, the pneumatic clanks of shells being chambered.

The thunder of raw power, the crackling stench of ozone, the hiss of energy scorching the air.

The immovable object clashes with the supreme force.

There will be neither victory or defeat here on this battlefield.

Only destruction and ruin will be left in the wake when titans clash.

Just one more scar on the dead-end of the Universe: Eternity's End!

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!

It's been ages! Awesome to have you back with us!

Iron Voltekka, huh...?

Okay, A) That is a BITCHIN' awesome name, one I'd TOTALLY have made up if it was me, and B) I KNEW I couldn't be the only one who saw the resemblance!

Kaze: GODDAMMIT! Come on, just this once! I swear I'll only keep it down to six girls at a time!

...Let's just move on before the nosebleeds kick in...

Super Robots, Mechs and epic, overpowered death machines are at the heart of every man's soul! They are the very essence of a man's dreams!

Even deadly, emotionless cyborgs like Walter are not immune!

...okay, being able to thunder out IRON VOL-TEKKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! and blow up a mountain range probably doesn't hurt the ego either...

And this is why we don't make sarcastic remarks around megalomaniacal villains.

Crimson43 In reply to TheDarkbreaker [2011-09-09 16:38:06 +0000 UTC]

Walter: No means no, fox. Treat the women you keep in your den on your own time and money.

Yep, I'm glad I thought of Iron Voltekka, cuz you know Walter won't stick with just one coat. Now THAT'S how you make a fashion statement!

FYI, I have the stuff I told you about before I pulled my vanishing act, and once I get a new scanner I'll have it up. Ours fell and important parts exploded everywhere.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheDarkbreaker In reply to Crimson43 [2011-09-10 00:25:06 +0000 UTC]

Ouch...okay, yeah, that scanner died, all right.

Oh great, I just had another idea. In addition to his main, multi-weapon coat, he also has a whole array of others, each one specifically designed to be the ultimate antithesis to one particular enemy.

For example, an anti-Darkbreaker suit, an anti-Crimson suit, an anti-Chimera suit...etc etc.

And each one is equipped with a loadout specifically designed to deal MASSIVE amounts of super-effective damage to the target it was designed to counter, while taking minimal damage in return.

Despite the fact that such specialized armors will render him vulnerable to simultaneous attacks by other enemies, I suppose he can always have, say, maybe three other suits on standby for emergency switches.

So all in all, he can switch between any one of four armors, one of which is always his customary multi-weapon one. The other three...well, it'll vary depending on who he's heading out to fight, right?

Lookin' forward to the new stuff!

Crimson43 In reply to TheDarkbreaker [2011-09-10 17:24:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that's pretty much what I had in mind. I just have to work specifics for each coat. Kind of like X, only he can't change in a brilliant flash of light, more like Iron Man suiting up.

Vile: For some reason this sounds strangely familiar...

But yes, this is an EPIC idea, and we TOTALLY need to roll with this!

Eeh, yeah, I was kinda hesitant with the whole Vile thing, but I could'nt think of another way to do it, so I was like, "Screw it, it works, his actual attachments will make up for it."

Which they will.

Walter: Hmm, maybe you and I should have a friendly duel sometime. Your abilities are similar to mine, after all. *Loading ShnShiSprk.exe*

On the subject of Super Robot based attacks, have you ever heard of a mech series called The Big O?

BECAUSE IT IS AWESOME.

No seriously, if you have time, get to watching that now. It's about twenty six episodes, and is essentially Batman, except with giant robots.

It also happens to be the one mech who I'm basing Vile's heavy hitting moveset around.

Seriously, between this and GaoGaiGar, you need to watch these shows!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crimson43 In reply to TheDarkbreaker [2011-09-20 20:06:54 +0000 UTC]

YES!!

Now, Big O, SHOWTIME!!

I have seen and LOVE Big O, and I think the people who were involved with the 90s Batman cartoon helped create Big O.

Good thing we can tolerate all this epic without having our brains implode on us, huh?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheDarkbreaker In reply to Crimson43 [2011-09-21 01:20:36 +0000 UTC]

YOU'VE WATCHED BIG O?!

HOLY HELL, DUDE YOU ARE AWESOME!

Big O, Final Stage!

Awesomeness incarnate! And yes, it WAS done by the same guys who did the Batman cartoon. Which makes it even better, because let's face it: Big O, is essentially Batman with giant robots.

And giant robots INSTANTLY make EVERYTHING better.

Except for Evangelion, although the new movies sort of redeemed it a bit...

So of course, you DO realize Vile's getting that piston-powered punch, right?

AT LEAST the punch. And probably the EPIC Gatling Gun built into the arm (I think they called it the O Thunder).

To the theme of: [link]

Because Vile is so badass he gets a classical music theme.

Crimson43 In reply to TheDarkbreaker [2011-09-23 16:54:40 +0000 UTC]

Agreed! Especially Eva...never had such an intense urge to kill until I saw End of Eva movie. SO glad they made Rebuild.

Anywho, seeing Vile with a piston powered punch AND O Thunder (yes, you got it right)?

Dude, has anyone told you your ideas for fanfics are made of win?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheDarkbreaker In reply to Crimson43 [2011-09-24 00:08:35 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, End of Eva didn't exactly piss me off as much as it confused the HELL out of me. It took two months and a minor flame war with some asshat on youtube before I finally made any sense of it.

Although, yes, Shinji DID piss me off. IMMENSELY. He sets the standard by which all other whiny emo bitches of anime are judged.

FOR FUCK'S SAKE, HE HAD A GIANT ROBOT AND WAS SIMPLY HIDING IN A CORNER WHILE HIS PSYCHO GIRLFRIEND WAS OFF GETTING MANGLED BY A BUNCH OF FREAKY EVA CLONES!

But yeah, I don't even know how I come up with these awesome ideas. It's already a fanfic, right? So why the hell don't I just go all out with it! It's not like I need to worry about copyrighting ideas or anything! I'm just doing this because I am enjoying the HELL out of it, and to show people REALLY how writing Megaman fanfiction should be done!

Crimson43 In reply to TheDarkbreaker [2011-09-24 02:15:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it confused me too...I STILL don't get it, actually. I hated it cuz the movie was designed to make you HATE Shinji, as if his personality and actions in the original series was'nt enough to accomplish that. Even his VA thought it was pathetic. Pretty sure that's a new low.

Yes, DO go all out with it! PIERCE THE HEAVENS WITH YOUR FANFIC, DARKBREAKER!!

ROW, ROW, FIGHT DA POWAH!! [link]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheDarkbreaker In reply to Crimson43 [2011-09-24 20:32:14 +0000 UTC]

...yeah, that's gotta be one for the history books. You KNOW you're really crap when ever your voice actor hates you. Then again, Gainax practically BUILT Shinji to be unlikable, so in that sense, he could also be considered one of the biggest successes in anime characters.

They wanted a thoroughly despicable and irritating main character, so they DELIBERATELY made him that way. And not only that, but they were SO DAMN SUCCESSFUL at it, that Shinji Ikari is now THE standard by which unlikable main characters are judged.

Say what you will, but the fact that Gainax DELIBERATELY made him this way, and STILL made Evangelion so well known, is just a testament to how ridiculously amazing they are. Making a annoying main character is one thing. Making a Shinji Ikari on the other hand...THAT shit takes SKILL!

Just another reason why I will forever rate Gainax as one of the best!

Gurren Lagann and FLCL, of course, are the two top reasons, closely followed by their BITCHING oneshot, Tailenders!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crimson43 In reply to TheDarkbreaker [2011-09-25 00:02:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I see your point about Shinji.

Thank God they made Gurren Lagann and FLCL, or they may have had more of a negative rep than a positive one.

But it's okay that you said that.

Because I have a Goldion Hammer of my own, as does CyberBreaker and one of his Chibis!

...what, where did you THINK the Hammer Chibi model came from?

Come on, it yells "TIIIITANIUM...HAM-MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" When it smashes people!

I didn't expect you to say Goldion Hammer though, since not too many people I know here on DA are familiar with the always epic GaoGaiGar!

...And yeah, I did misunderstand. Crap, now I see what you were getting at with Gai and ninjas.

Ffffffffffff-see what I mean? I DID say I was terrible at these things!

And if you want scary, picture this: A tag-team combo between my Chromium Hammer, CyberBreaker's Platinum Hammer and the Hammer-Chibi's Titanium Hammer!

Whoever gets hit by THAT combo is not going to have anything LEFT to become light!

Seegan-Nexus [2011-09-04 12:52:23 +0000 UTC]

*whistles* I really don't want to get caught in that fight. They would probably work together to beat me into the ground, absolutely obliterate me with missiles and a thermonuclear explosion and then get right back to fighting each other.

Though I wonder, how exactly do those anti-energy shells work? Do they absorb energy rather than release energy?

Anyways, this has been really done well. Kudos to you as always.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheDarkbreaker In reply to Seegan-Nexus [2011-09-04 15:15:14 +0000 UTC]

Actually in all fairness, after that, they'd probably just shoot each other disgusted looks and storm off, on account of being fed up of the whole thing.

They're CARDINALs, once they've vented their frustration, they more or less stop caring.

As for the anti-energy rounds, I'm guessing there's some kind of antimatter involved.

Heh, thanks!

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Seegan-Nexus In reply to TheDarkbreaker [2011-09-04 20:06:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that'd seem more likely really.

Still, it would be safe to say that lifeforms that happen to pass by in space will notice a series of explosions slightly to their right on the planet right next to them... and they should probably watch out for the incoming solar flare coming straight from the heart of the fray.

And if that's how those rounds work, I think it would only be worse for Black, considering that contact between antimatter and matter would cause them to annihilate each other, leaving only pure energy for Rubicon to suck up, tear apart, and reassemble into a devastating technique. But if it were to somehow absorb energy, like say using the densest stuff in the universe (maybe from a dwarf star), then it should be able to help possibly lessen and/or counteract Rubicon's attacks.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheDarkbreaker In reply to Seegan-Nexus [2011-09-05 00:15:15 +0000 UTC]

Heh, don't look at me, all I did was get SHOT by 'em.

...unless of course, yeah, he's figured out how to make those fabled 'Black Hole Rounds' I found plans for in Syndicate's outsource files...

Either way, whatever he's using, the damn thing eats energy like a BITCH. One shot of that stuff did me more damage than getting hit with the whole of BH!

Solar flares...yeesh, I forgot he could do that...

If it was Kaze and Von Talon, you'd probably be safe, as they tend to go for more personal, overwhelming attacks.

Whereas Black and Rubicon, on the other hand, BEAM-SPAM LIKE CRAZY.

For Christ's sake, Black has two multi terawatt laser cannons on his shoulders! And let's not forget Rubicon and his Solar Flares!

and thats with NORMAL shit. if I ever see half the folks that seem to get in fights around here I'm grabbin a cigar and walkin the other way.

...unless of course, they have a bone to pick with me, my friends, or the wife. then they may just see the Beast within...

TheDarkbreaker In reply to RickAkemi [2011-09-05 13:03:11 +0000 UTC]

Oh hey you play Touhou too!

I'm not too familiar with the characters though, as I've only played Imperishable night, and CAN'T GET PAST LEVEL THREE! I made it to five once before I got my ass handed to me ROYALLY.

Difference here is that where in Touhou you get bonus points for grazes, doing the same thing for one of Black's deathlasers or Rubicon's Overbeam is likely to half kill you.

And you don't get any bonus points for that kind of thing.

As for families and such, well, to be honest, most of these bosses don't bother with that kind of thing. Relying on cheap tricks like that only proves you are weak. Bosses that can crush their enemies without resorting to such strategies, by combining their immense power with deviously cunning plans are much, MUCH more dangerous.

At least, that's what I've always believed.

been there, beat most. type in "hardest video game boss" and you'll see what I mean. there's one where the final boss only appears if you GO THE ENTIRE GAME WITHOUT GETTING HIT.

I'd rather get the bonus points for complete dodges, not near misses. I like my flesh. does me good. also, I'm living for two so there's extra incentive to not get in over my head.

and I know most DECENTLY powerful bad guys actually have a code of conduct (which is why you see me making back door deals with them, in order to take down the REAL scum of existence...) its the crazy ones I take beef with. you have an evil mastermind agenda? fine, but at least have rhyme or reason to it, instead of going around blowing shit up for the sake of chaos. hate that SO much.

also epic fights dont count, there's always collateral damage for that.

damn no comment on my best attempt at putting my mutation to good intimidation practice? guess I'm just not that scary. meh, works for me, someone else said I should work on that. not my style really, I prefer to put actions to words.

also, side effect of me going on an angry elemental-ass-kicking spree: the planet i was on USED to be dead and lifeless. well, not anymore, local ecosystem seems to be undergoing rapid regrowth and restoration. wierd.

You're kidding me, right? PLEASE TELL ME YOU'RE KIDDING.

*checks youtube*

GODDAMMIT.

REALLY, TOUHOU? REALLY?!

As a great man once said: Real men only become stronger when they have something to protect!

Of course, overkill bosses like Xelander Krelac are a bit of an exception. There's no real method to his madness. There's A)kill the shit out of anything that isn't him, B) Absorb more power, C)Hold off on fragging the planet while he schemes, making several of the more unscrupulous inhabitants unwittingly gather more power for him for when he inevitably DOES destroy the planet, D)KILL the SHIT out of ANYTHING that's NOT HIM, and E) Occasionally, seduce and corrupt any attractive female deities/any female with insane amounts of power, enough that he deems her capable of being an asset to his cause. Case in point: Athena, Aphrodite and Nemesis.

And before you ask, no, he's not going to come after your wife. I hate affairs that involve things like that, and therefore by extension, so too will my characters. Also, Krelac tends to prefer his concubines/willing slaves/harem army candidates to be Ethereals, particularly with impossibly long lifespans. It's a better investment for him that way, as for the most part he can't be bothered to give them immortality.

And from what I've gathered, your wife is still human, or mostly human anyway. Judging by half the crap you've both fought through, I'd say that's a reasonable guess.

So yeah, anyway, in all seriousness, stuff like serious love triangles, tangled relationships, hostages or any of the really dark, and serious stuff, you probably won't find in any of my stories. For one thing, the serious versions of these (as opposed to the comical ones, like Omega+his girls, and the Darkbreaker+the girls after his affections) are too needlessly complicated and melodramatic.

Also...well, essentially I guess it all just boils down to I don't like writing stuff like that. Life's messed up as it is, and I'd rather enjoy my writing.

...WOW I went off topic.

Anyhow, sorry for not commenting on the epic intimidation. I think I've more or less become totally jaded to stuff like that now, what with all of the other Division members doing their own unique versions of that sort of thing, i.e. SZ lighting everything on fire, the Captain being a tad bit stab-happy, Ravi randomly charging off to find the most dangerous man in existence, Crimson running around throwing around shadows and collecting weapons, etc etc.

As a professional opinion, though....hmm...that actually wasn't half bad!

It was a bit heavy on the melodrama though (which actually isn't all that different from half the crap we get up to here) but...Let's see...Making it a bit sleeker, more streamlined, so you can really throw it out as a catchphrase...How about:

"...if someone dares to mess with those I care about, then rest assured, I shall show them a REAL hell on earth!"

*right eye flashes blue for an instant*

...or something like that, I guess. I dunno, it's up to you how you want to run stuff like this, after all!

And yeah, see, THAT'S why no matter how irritating elementals can be, I try to avoid wiping them out en masse. Removing them from an environment is like pulling a vital component out of an ecosystem. The system will eventually recover as elementals slowly begin to reappear again, but in the interim, the climate will be going ALL over the place.

Give it two months, and I can guarantee you there'll be some kind of horrible natural disaster to put it right back to being half-dead.

works for me. honestly, if I ever mention the wife, its as a running joke.

this is the scariest woman I have ever met. and unlike most evolved humans, she seems to be breaking the rules. take me. usual fare, blow shit up with my gauntlets/psyblades, fireballs, etc.

this woman ripped a demon in half with kitsune LIGHTNING. then promptly used his wings as membrane for something she was making.

what. the. FUCK. did I miss something? did I flip a switch for things to not make sense? comon, we're supposed to have some standards in the world, next thing I know she's force Storming the shit out of someone. the only reason I'm not calling bullshit is because of the circumstances of her mutation. (forced possession attempt. she won and had his soul for a snack. kept the enhancements. *shudder*)

wish I was joking about touhou though. they get pretty rediculous.

meh, melodrama has its moments, but I prefer to to grab 20mm MK7 Penetrator round, lock that bad boy into the rifle and let fly with the pain. there are folks that'll engage in epic speeches before fights, and half the fun is listining to the guys crazy plan for domination sometimes, but I've personally had days where I cant help but run out of patience. I'll go to a temple and pray later, but in the spur of the moment my focus is on the target of opportunity and stopping his ass. bullet to the face still works great on most mortal issues.

if it didnt mean my immediate and painful humiliating assbeating I'd happily fight the jokers you mentioned though. its been so far too long since I've seen a villian with that old school class its almost painful.

the elemental killing spree was an accident. I was just out to get the bastard that wrecked my ship. (seriously, a 300meter vessel, used as mountain target practice? THAT ASSHOLE.) it wasnt until I found the head honcho--wind, of course--and had a frank discussion on certain matters of principle that his dead...whatever left behind a huge gem that happened to look like the ones I found in a meteor to power the ship to begin with.

what followed was an oops-I-broke-the-ecosystem-lemme-try-to-fix-it that took a good while. I've been burned, drowned, zapped, buffeted, dried out, buried, turned evil, turned good, met my evil twin, had lunch with my evil twin then shot him in the face for not paying his half of the bill, and killed some asshole that robbed a national treasure.

that last one was just in the wrong place at the wrong time but seriously man, by then I was knee deep in worrying about what ELSE could go wrong.

...*groan*

Dude, just LISTENING to this enough to make me want to crash my Panadol stash again...or the ranch-flavor nachos. Salt is gooooood...

Seriously, I have no idea how you do it.

Welcome to the world of Division Omega, where even the most terrifying and dark villains have class.

ANYONE can be a cheap-ass, cheating bastard. It takes REAL style to become an evil overlord with class and standards.

Kaze: Besides, married women come with too much trouble attached. There's always some pesky husband out to kill ya after that, and believe me, those bastards are WAY harder to frag than regular boyfriends. So yeah, it's the single ladies for me, and bloody murder to anyone else!

Walter: Hmph. As Always, Mizuki, You Have No Sense Of Decorum.

Kaze: Tch, don't talk down to me, machine head. At least my 'equipment' isn't made out of titanium!

Walter: *looms* Are You TRYING To Get Yourself Killed, Mizuki?

Dras Von Talon: ... -_-"

Rubicon:Ah, it's always such fun to watch my rivals war amongst themselves...it will make it so much simpler to step in when they're finished...!

Both Walter and Kaze: You're Next, Wraith/flamehead!

Dras Von Talon: ...>>(

Rubicon: *shrugs* Well, perhaps I shall simply wait for my next opportunity, then...

So yeah, like I said, classy. And don't underestimate Kaze just because of the way he acts. That just makes him even more deadly with his plans, because he has no scruples with using people like disposable pawns.

No matter how cold and cruel these overlords may be, there's some lines even they won't cross. Although to be fair, that's less to do with any form of moral compass, and more to do with the fact that said lines cause more inconvenience than benefit when crossed.

And Krelac...yeah, I don't even know how his logic system works, so let's not go there.

And it's funny your wife picked up her powers that way.

One of my Eterna staff members had a similar problem. Difference is, she couldn't beat hers. Se was possessed by a succubus, and not one of the newer ones, who like sex just for pleasure, as much as they do for nutrients, and are more playful than deadly. No, she got one of the OLD school, the kind that always kills when they feed. A real demoness, cruel and vicious.

Even I couldn't frag it, because I'd kill her host, who was actually a pretty nice girl. In the end, I had to half-kill myself by calling in a favor my godfather, Azrael. The angel of death from whom all others are derived, he's the REAL Grim Reaper. His scythe cuts only the soul.

In other words, he killed the bitch without damaging the body, allowing the girl to resurface and take control again.

Of course, said asshat then goes and leaves her in Eterna as a SURPRISE for me, because I interrupted his f*cking coffee break with this sexy new female Death in charge of one of the outer solar systems.

Oh, you can just BET I was pleased with that.

So yeah, the end result is she kept the new body, and is still trying to adapt to the powers. She was a witch before, so now she's just trying to figure out how to channel magic through a demonic body, which handles magic ENTIRELY differently from a human one.

depends on the magic, so long as its in tune with the nature of the demon there shouldn't be too much issue. dunno how that works with sex fiends.

and in the case of heather its simple. she's dont like being fucked with.

...that seems to be the general trend for you and everyone you work with.

Yeah, she seems to be running into problems with it. She's used to drawing magic from herself, but her new body appears to draw it from the surroundings instead. It'll take a while, but she's getting there.

Took me like a WEEK to get this done. I know mechs and such are my specialty, but jeez, drawing Walter was still hard!
