This photo has great colour saturation and a fantastic angle. It really has a lot of movement. You did a great job with telling a story. If I knew more about violins I could probably imagine what this photo sounded like. That's not something I can claim to have in my repertoire.
On the technical level there is a shit tonne of noise. This shot seems to be in bright daylight so try ratcheting down your ISO settings. I'm sure you know that lower iso = lower noise. A noise reduction filter in photoshop would probably clear a little of this up. If you are using CS3 or CS4, try using the Adobe Camera RAW utility when importing. I do most of my adjustments there.
Although the depth of field is crazy good, I think I would like to see more focus on the violinist's eyes. It seems as though she has intense focus. Eyes portray micro-emotions that you can't convey any other way in a photo. I think if the eyes were included it would add a whole new depth to this photo. If you boosted your ISO in order to get the DOF you are looking for,I understand, but a photo judge would not be so forgiving.

The noise that keeps popping up in my photos comes from me always forgetting to lower the setting back down.
That's a fault I need to fix.

This is great! The focus on the fingers is nice and has a nice DOF! The blue sky is a great background and compliments the red in the violin nicely
