In Blackest Day, in Brightest Night
Beware your fears turned into light
Let those who try to stop what's right
Burn like my power, Sinestro's might!

Seriously am i the only person who would love to see a Sinestro Spin Off Movie akin to the Magneto Movie that was being made (it was eventually liquidated into X-Men First Class, the writer of Magneto Sheldon Turner [who wrote the Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning] got credit for it)

Not at all . They way Mark Strong portrayed Sinestro i would love to see in depth into that character !! He was just perfect for something like an anti-hero as Sinestro pity the story wasn't good enough to show it .
Still love to ...

Yep totally ... Hope they will give the desired screen time to sinestro in the 2nd part and also build the character right.

would be cool to do manhunters and toy with a subplot of sinestro being corrupted by the yellow ring

Very nice work. Still think Sinestro would have been a better foe for the movie.

Yeah and I can agree that is what they were doing. But hear me out.
Parallax is the main enemy in the movie. You are given a scene where Sinestro and about a dozen other Lanterns cannot defeat Parallax. Then Hal is able to beat him on his own. How do you make Sinestro the enemy in the second movie and have people believe he is a threat when Hal has already beaten Parallax himself?

Exactly! Hal goes all the way back to Oa to ask for help in fighting Parallax and what does he get? A "Good luck Green Lantern" from Sinestro. Does that mean Sinestro was scared? Which would be the opposite of what a Green Lantern stands for.

Of all the things they did wrong in this movie, I think saving Sinestro as the villain for the sequel was the right choice. Demon's right, it's better to build him up first. Besides, we already saw that Hal couldn't beat Sinestro in a one-on-one fight during his training.
But apparently you feel that beating Parallax means that Sinestro is automatically no threat. I don't think it works that way at all.
Think of that scene from The Princess Bride, where Westley beats Fezzik [played by the incomparable Andre the Giant]. Fezzik mentions as he falls that there is a difference between fighting one opponent versus half a dozen, something to do with the moves you use. We can infer that there's also a difference between fighting someone your own size and fighting an eldritch abomination like Parallax.
Try to imagine it. Sinestro could have ducked the flying gas truck, outmaneuvered Hal in the asteroid belt, and escaped the sun's gravitational pull with about as much effort. Those same moves wouldn't work when the opponent is your size.
Winning a fight isn't always about strength. You can win by speed, skill, cunning, or just dumb luck.

Ok you have a point. Still I hope they learn a lesson from this movie and make the second one better. I mean I assume they are planning on making a second film even though this one is considered a failure in most fans eyes.

Agreed, largely. I consider the film just short of failure. It's certainly not everything I was looking forward to, but it was fun, with some redeeming qualities. But I have heard they're going ahead with the sequel, and we have to hope that they see what went wrong with the original. Cutting out Blake Lively entirely and shooting the whole thing in space would be a good way to start. I wanted more from the rest of the corps, not just a silent crowd. They need personality.

Yeah, a movie that focuses on the whole corps rather than just one officer would be best. Like an outer space cop drama or war movie. But you mentioned that the end was the problem, and pretty much all the issues I had with this movie came up well before that. Which aspect of the climax ruined it for you?

Yeah I considered it enjoyable so short of failure would be accurate. I agree that more from the rest of the Corps would be the best way to go. Its highly possible that they would take the movie to space seeing as how Sinestro would be trying to destroy the GL Corps once he has his yellow ring.
