I love your pictures and this is too cute. I am considering getting a Fennec fox, but I have to ask. Are they a lot of work to look after? I've fallen in love with them and have done a lot of research, but I have never asked anyone who actually owns one.

I have had Cairo for about 10 months now, and I just adore him. When I got him first at 8 wks old, he was a lot to handle. He had accidents all the time, was extremely tiny and fast, and he would get into anything and everything left out... you pretty much have to fox-proof your house because they will eat non-edible sorts of things, especially rubber and shiny things.
He will be a year old April 27 and at this point he has become a really great pet. At around 6 months he was kinda turning into a grumpy little thing, but he started to calm down since then. He really doesn't enjoy being held or petted much, but he will hang out with me on the couch and he is very social, especially with my cat. He is like 95% potty trained to use a pee pad, and if he doesn't go on that he does his business on rugs. I would go as far to say he is easier to have at this age than a dog. However, he did tear a few things up, but you pretty much get that with any animal.

Gwah! Lovely. I've wanted a fennec fox since I found out they can (legally) be kept as pets. How does this little guy get along with your kitty? Are they difficult to raise?

He adores my kitty! Its so cute. My cat has never hissed at him once, even when I first brought him home. They play together all the time, and if your interested I have a youtube account with videos of them playing together.

The fox really isn't all that difficult to raise. The hardest part is getting started... finding the perfect cage, finding a vet that will actually see the fox, and learning about their behavior. I'm having difficulty potty training him at the moment, he hates collars and harnesses, and I can't really eat food around him because he'll go crazy... but other than that they have a pretty easy diet to prepare, and they warm up to you pretty quick. He sleeps on me all the time and is adjusting at my house really well and I've only had him for a month.

Wow he sounds precious. I'll be sure to give your youtube a look.
He sounds a bit more like raising a dog than a cat. Good luck and hope everything works out well. ^_~
