I was amazed when I saw this piece, so it definitely deserves a critique. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Aww"/>
I love the detail in this and I mean wow, that must have taken some work. I think the scales look very realistic, are colored flawlessly, and are very appropriate for this creature.
The background is very well done as well. And considering I can't draw one to save my life, you have put me to shame! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/> I like the original cave designs and it adds a bit of mystery to this creature's history.
As for any changes, I keep going back to the mouth. To me, it looks a bit unhinged, but it looks like it could be styled after a crocodile/alligator...? I think something about the perspective is throwing me off, just a bit.
All in all, this is a creative and wonderful piece and I hope you continue to draw more creatures in the future.

Thank you for the critique! I really appreciate it. I totally agree with you on the mouth, there's something not right with it. XD

Wow. This beats the idea I had in my head of these guys by a wide margin.
Excellent work. Very creepy and altogether very unwholesome.

We exist in what was once their world. We are primitives that have sprawled over what was once their paradise, what is now our desert. They live in the deep depths beneath their great city's ruin, hate-twisted.

Hmm, I never been asked that before, good question! I just get joy out of making weird and scary creatures, and when they scare or inspire someone that just makes it even more fun for me. I think a lot of people enjoy getting scared in a safe way, that's why people enjoy roller coasters, horror films, horror rides, etc. I know I love it, and being able to have someone get scared of my art and enjoy it at the same time totally makes me happy that they are having a fun time and inspired by it.

More than likely, the protagonist in the story came across disturbing paintings of the beasts killing and ripping apart humans due to their hatred towards them.

Especially in the mythos of Lovecraft, I would never want to cross Cthulhu's path or a Mi-Gos, lol!
