Sad to say I used to be down with Mr. Brownstone. In all reality, heroin itself isn't really shitty, it's the lifestyle and addiction that comes along with it. Opioids like heroin are actually some of the least taxing on the body's organs – even when used over a long period of time. Even after my terrible experiences, coming from hell back to the world of the living, I'm still not one to say "Drugs are bad." I think that this piece illustrates that yes, heroin is terrible, especially when injected, but I still back needle exchanges and safe-shooting sites. Addiction is a terrible thing to have to deal with. Excellent work.

At the risk of being burned at the stake,I'll be honest. I am very PRO Cannabis legalization but I have no sympathy when it comes to heroin. It's one thing to seek small pleasures and "irie" feelings , but nothing but shame,pain and loss comes from Heroin. It has destroyed so many lives and made evil persons wealthy.The only person I know of that had any success in their life while being a Heroin addict was William S.Burroughs and he was the exception instead of the rule.
It is also because of heroin and it's negative influences that legalization of Cannabis(and other "soft" substances) has been so difficult.
But instead of condemning the addict, let us help those less fortunate return to a richer life with compassion and wisdom!
