Agreed!
Although for the DSC visual reboot, I do like their Enterprise interpretation.

I just can't see why they did it!Β It now implies that the ship was launched in 2245 as we see her in 'The Cage' (captained by Pike), undergoes a structural redesign (which, by the way, makes her smaller), and is then returned to her original look for 'Where No Man Has Gone Before' and TOS!Β Her only major redesign takes place 2270/2271!
Why couldn't they just do what ENT did with the Defiant (don't start me on the problems with that (two-parter), and clean up the original design.of the Enterprise?Β

It isn't meant to be the same Enterprise. In the Discovery visual continuity, it's THE Enterprise. Discovery is a soft reboot. Visually, it's different. Story-wise, it hasn't violated canon, yet.

I was reminded about this forty minutes ago (well, sat down given a lecture might be a truer description) by a friend.Β Shs also told me off about getting "too passionate" about this subject.Β I can't help it though, I grew up watching TOS repeats after going to Cubs, and the Enterprise had me hooked on Trek almost from day one.Β Β

Once again a very believable render.

I have a space-flight simulator called Orbiter and some alien planets I've downloaded. I modeled Kirk's EnterpriseΒ in Lego Digital Designer. I'd like to take a crack at modeling a shot like this in Lego form.

TOS is eternal!
Also, you should check out the TOS based fan films. They really do channel the atmosphere.

Help is on the way. This may be good or bad news, depending on which uniform you're wearing.

wonder how this sort of picture would look with the discovery version, but all the blurriness and such kept intact.

Wow, it would look weird. What I could imagine is a low-res, pixel-y thing, like a pirated copy

it could look like the classic show but off... maybe?

Nicely done - good ISO noise simulation and certainly like the blurry low-res planet models, heh.Β Nice to see the original girl again though - so pretty.
