The only thing I can think of when I see this is...
2010: the year we made contact.

Some weird spatial anomaly that knocks out primary and secondary systems, with emergency systems they detect a Klingon battlecruiser. The scoutship has no weapons, and are easy prey, so the Klingons board... ...Take it away! LOL!
Excellent work as usual my friend and the story ideas for this are almost endless! Fantastic!

Very nice, I like the cool colors of the nebula. Didn't expect to see you do an image with the Archer.

As awesome as that would be, it's size is the very problem I have with it. Scout ship or not, I just can't take the Archer class seriously. I just an affinity to the larger Constitution and Yorktown classes.

In that case then yes I can see the Archer being perfect for that. Maybe its just the way they show space battles is why I always want a vessel that's combat worthy, not a dinky little scout ship. Although I do have respect for the science vessel and what not.

Tricky, tricky, those Rommies. Bet they're right under that scout ship's bow, cloaked and waiting to kill her crew.

An asteroid with a pub on it?
The ubiquitous starfleet camper van in operation again, its only a guess here but I'll bet that all crew stationed on one of these are on "shore leave" without definate travel plans.

The pub on the asteroid called "the floating vagabond" by any chance?

maybe a nice Romulan Warbird awaits them inside the nebula?

They're not Intrepid explorers, they're Archer explorers.
As for what's awaiting them in the nebula, which could have temporal properties? The 25th century Polaris?

Kennedy was shot by himself ( "Red Dwarf" episode "Tikka to Ride" ), Jimmy Hoffa's body was eaten by the other inmates (the government was cheap and figured the other prisoners wouldn't notice), The fifth Beatle was Ringo Starr (Brian Epstein was part of the original 4).

The fifth Beatle was Brian Epstein, though. Any Beatle fan knows that, Paul said it himself. I posit: Khan is in there.

"What might await the intrepid explorers?"
The Unknown!
Excellent!
