Character Design
Dan is a very laid-back guy. He likes relaxing in warm places and just chilling out with his only pokemon, a Charmander named Aseii.

Accessories
In Dan's bag are about 15 potions (10 Hyper, 5 Max) and about 6 Max Revives, a coin case filled with Volcanobadges, Aseii's Vs. Seeker, a Pal Pad with all the people he's had a gym match with and a cell phone. The keys to his house and the Cinnabar Gym, ferry pass and cash card are in his pockets.

Alternate Outfit
Dan's alternate outfit is a weather-resistant jacket with the Volcanobadge printed on the back. He wears this along with a black undershirt whenever he's challenged to a gym battle or when it's really cold out.

Character History
Dan was born on Cinnabar Island, where he spent a great deal of time bothering Blaine about his fire-type gym. Dan absolutely loves fire-type, so it was quite the thrill for him when Blaine gave him a Charmander, named Aseii, to be his very first pokemon. When they began traveling Dan found that Aseii refused to just weaken pokemon so that Dan could capture them. Instead he knocked out each and every one they encountered. By the time the two reached the Pewter Gym, Dan had decided to not bother catching any other pokemon and Aseii had his eyes dead-set on being the most powerful Charmander in existence. They bested Brock fairly easily, which bolstered Aseii's determination to beat down anything bigger and stronger than he was. The only real snag that they met was at Cerulean Gym, where Starmie repeatedly smacked Aseii around the place. This continued to happen no matter how many times the Charmander wanted to fight. Until, that is, he learned about the power that lay in his right arm and the critical damage he could cause on just about anyone. Aseii learned how to Slash.

From then on it was smooth sailing for Dan and Aseii. Vermillion City's Lt. Surge fell before Aseii's right arm. Celadon Gym was a joke, really. Fuchsia City and both of Saffron's Gyms were defeated by the tiny lizard. Eventually the pair made their way back to Cinnabar Island, where Blaine was waiting for them with a challenge. Dan and Aseii managed to beat Blaine, relying heavily on Aseii's slashing prowess. Receiving the Volcanobadge from Blaine may have been the crowning achievement in their eyes. After a very short period of relaxation at home, Dan and Aseii traveled back to Viridian City where defeating the gym there was nothing but a formality. After Viridian fell, the Elite Four were the next to go. It took a couple of tries, but they managed to wedge themselves in the Hall of Fame after Aseii defeated the Champion's Blastoise.

After that Dan decided to head back to Cinnabar Island where he and Aseii spent their days alternating with Blaine as gym leader so that they could practice for the day when Blaine finally retires. Eventually Blaine decided to give Dan and Aseii a handful of Volcanobadges and sent them out into the world again as sort of walking gym match on the condition that he phone back each time he lost a battle.

Pokémon

Aseii the Charmander - Blaze
Being Dan's first (and only) pokemon, Aseii is the strongest member of the team. He spent the first part of his life with Dan looking for challenges and battles at every turn, thinking himself to be some kind of demon god of fire and rage. He's spent so much time battling on his own that Dan doesn't even bother giving him commands in battle... unless it's a go-ahead to just go all out. Now he's mellowed out considerably and acts as a sort of referee/babysitter/supervisor for the assembled team. His favourite food is peaches, just like Dan.

Kassie the Arcanine - Flash Fire
Kassie belongs to Dan's father, who loves dogs of all kinds. Actually, he has two Arcanines, the other being a male named Hannibal. When Dan mentioned the Battle Frontier he asked his father if he could bring Kassie along. He agreed.

Kassie enjoys running a lot. In fact, she is usually Dan's first choice to get around places instead of by car or bird. She is a very childish pokemon who is often talked into calm submission by Aseii when she gets too riled up. One of her favourite pastimes, other than running, is meeting new people.

Captain the Pidgeot - Tangled Feet
During his travels as a walking gym battle, Dan met a girl named Jade , who specialized in bird-type pokemon. After their match Dan kept in touch with her and, after hearing about the Battle Frontier, asked if he could borrow a bird from her. She let him have Captain.

Captain got his name from the stereotypical captain character from TV. You know the kind: Cocky, flirtatious and witty enough to get away with it. Captain enjoys using Attract on everyone he finds attractive, male and female.

Chips the Blaziken - Blaze
Shortly after taking the ferry from Cinnabar to Pallet Town, Dan met Cara , who had gotten a Squirtle from Professor Oak. They spent a good deal of traveling time together and became very good friends. Once Dan had gotten into the Hall of Fame he and Cara went their separate ways, but still managed to stay in contact over the years. When Dan brought up the Battle Frontier, Cara sent him Chips, hoping that Dan could do something about the eccentric fire-type.

Chips watched an anime with Cara that he very much enjoyed and took to imitating his favourite character, right down to the signature glasses he wore. Chips loves posing flamboyantly before engaging in hand-to-hand combat with his opponent. When things start to get tough he blasts everyone around him with Overheat.

Karina the Umbreon - Synchronize
Dan's brother, Josh , is an Eevee trainer. He loves the base form the most but enjoys raising all of the evolutions individually. He was happy to lend his brother a pokemon when asked to do so. The only problem was picking between all of the potential candidates.

Timid in nature, Karina doesn't fight as readily as most other pokemon. She'd much rather keep to herself and is often hiding behind either Dan or Aseii instead of interacting with the other borrowed team members. She and Est especially don't get along very well at all.

Est the Shiny Luxray - Rivalry
Dan got to know C'tri through Jade, who had met him while she was out badge-hunting through Sinnoh. Eventually Dan and C'tri started keeping in contact and became pretty good friends as well. It was a little awkward at first, when Dan asked to borrow a sixth member from him, but C'tri agreed and sent Est to finish off the party.

Est is a badass. Enough said. She finds challenges in pokemon, often other females, when there isn't one to be had. She likes to make it known that she's the one in charge and that she's more than capable of leading the team to victory... until Aseii reminds her who is actually in charge. Her Rivalry ability has actually gotten her into trouble with the team, having picked fights with both Kassie and Karina.
