This is an old photo of Helwan -my home town- in June 1938.

the photo was taken from a plane and one of the plane's wings apears on the pic, and i can see the place of my house in the pic, i think it was still an empty desert land at the edge of the town.

almost the buildings in the below part of the pic remain till now, some closed, but there's a one that is being used as a public library and this garden in the middle is The Japanese Garden was established in 1917 by Zulfugar Pasha and it remains till now.

there were British airports established in Helwan between WW1 and WW2, there were many flights in this area at this time.

i dont knowe who took this photo but its an amazing one....

*Helwan is an industrial City is located at the capital of Egypt, Cairo.

**update, Helwan is now a State, separated of Cairo by the government in 2008.
