Day 9: A Hybrid of Any Two Dinosaurs

Something I’ve often wondered to myself with dinosaurs is 1.Why are there no long-necked predators 2. Why are there no quadrupedal predators?
Herbivores seem to really get the cream of the crop when it comes to diversity. You can be quadrupedal, bipedal, have funny horns, a really long neck or a thick skull; but I don’t see that kind of diversity on therapods. their head shape changes and maybe they become a bit boxier, rounder or have longer arms to support WAIR, but always the same ‘plan’ with a few exaggerated features to help them fit into a niche, and that’s always been weird to me, because  protorosaurs was hugely diversified.

anyway- weird therapod rant over, let me introduce to you: Suchodocus, a suchomimus and diplodocus hybrid.

Acting in many ways an over-sized heron or bittern would, the Suchodocus with it’s pillar-like sturdy legs can stand in high river and lake waters almost motionlessly. There, it pears into the murky depths looking for near-by fish to snap up with it’s downward facing eyes. It’s long tail helps it keep balance as it extends and retracts its neck rapidly to seize fast fish; it can also use it’s tail to deter predators by turning it into a whip.
