This is a great shot. I think the soft focus in the foreground really takes the viewer's eye deeper into the shot rather than stopping their eye at the front of the shot. Great job!

Very nice! There's something about close-ups of white flowers . . .

I like the texture.

You're welcome.

That shot looks good with the petals in the foregroung softened by DOF. But, if you have a tripod, try setting your Aperture to f16 or higher, if you can, in A mode and see how that does you.

I've got all those things except my camera only goes to f8 from what I can tell.

You're right, I checked it out, here. [link]

Then try setting it to f8

You could also try S mode and set the shutter to a slow speed and see if the camera can set a higher f-stop electronically, but I doubt it.

Anyway, always read your manual. I can usually work things out without a manual, but on cameras, there are always these obscure little things that you need the manual to know about. And when you look at a deviation, look at the EXIF data and think about what you see before moving on.

I've had it on f8, but I will try the shutter speed thing too! Thank you for your advice!

You need to put it in A mode, too, for the f settings to work. Otherwise it'll be all automatic.
