This was a long long time ago. You have to install Compiz extras and just play around with it.

this is pretty epic. mine is similar but i dunno how to make my "cube caps" flat. its all one huge sphere. this is not the best place to be asking this but since u obviously know how to do it, what setting should i mess with to make the top of the sphere flat like yours. thanks for representing Ubuntu by the way.

You tell it not to deform cube caps upon rotate

That's compiz (previously known as compiz fusion) isn't it?

If so, I'm familiar with this effect but yours is awesome!

Long Live Linux!

TheGrayson In reply to LupineDream [2009-12-21 23:07:07 +0000 UTC]

Yup, that's just a simple Ubuntu special effect, if you close a Window, you have it burn up in flames (of any color) you can do all sorts of cool stuff

I play windows games all of the time on here lol

LupineDream In reply to TheGrayson [2009-12-22 00:02:21 +0000 UTC]

I might as well stick with windows. With how easily amused I am, it'd take a year before I stopped closing wondows just to watch them to up in flames

You just have to love Ubuntu, it's great with hardware

cleartick In reply to TheGrayson [2009-12-02 16:32:48 +0000 UTC]

I tried KDE last week, that was a big mistake: slowing my computer for beautiful effects. That's a negative point, I really prefer ubuntu in its mostly pure form

TheGrayson In reply to cleartick [2009-12-02 18:03:53 +0000 UTC]

Ubuntu for sure is the best choice, I never had much of a taste towards Kubuntu either, Gnome is my favorite shell by far

Gah, Ubuntu is amazing. I boot into it usually, but as of late, I've been getting partial to my Two Worlds game disc and my online (Nexon) games that I can't play in Ubuntu. I have, however, been able to sync my iPod Nano using Banshee. Windows always pulls me back in with it's omnicompatbility bullshit.

i wanted to switch to ubuntu too, but i would have to learn it first, and i have no time for.
also i dont want to miss all my programs like photoshop etc.

maybe i'll try it in vmware this weekend

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheGrayson In reply to mittamoa [2009-07-31 01:22:52 +0000 UTC]

You can run Photoshop on Ubuntu, I do all of the time, well, I prefer GIMP, but I use Photoshop CS2. You'll find yourself not missing much.

[link]

Look at the icon to the left of the GIMP icon. Just try it out of the live CD, it won't be nearly as fast an installation, but I'll give you a good feel for it, and I'll help you with anything that you may be wondering.

it looks AMAZING!
i love this style, and i see you have skype(most important^^) and picasa.
but i read in some forums, that there is no msn for linux, i need msn^^ (lol, and i dont like to use one of the multi messengers like trillian, pidgin etc.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheGrayson In reply to mittamoa [2009-07-31 02:15:12 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes there's MSN, duh, there's different kinds even, aMSN, emesene, I think you can even run the Microsoft version under Wine, but Pidgin actually isn't that bad. Pidgin's honestly great, I love it, tons of add ons and extra features you don't get anywhere else, but hey, it's all about preference. Trillian does suck though.

What's your computer's specs?
