Description Scene from S04E02 My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Princess Twilight Sparkle Part 2

Harder to draw due to the soft shading, which I didn't manage to pull off. :/
Also, the camera didn't pick up on the colours as well so I had to increase the contrast digitally. Original here if anyone is interested.

It was a very moving scene. The first episodes were full of great atmospherics. I hope it's an indication of what's to come this season!

And thank you for the favourite!

Celestia seems to be rather useless in a fight.

If it wasn't for the Elements later in the episode, I don't think she'd have won one yet!

Someone enjoyed the season premiere :3?
It's hard to tell from the picture, but I can't help but really love the discreet intensity change in the colouring! Most notably here, on Twi's wing.

Very much so!

Yeah, it was very hard to get the subtleness from the scene down onto paper. Lots of rubbing out and reshading. I should have probably given everything stronger colours to accentuate the lighting effects rather than trying to trying to match how it looked exactly. Would have come out better in the photo too!

I think you nailed the scene, though some stronger colours could possibly make it look a bit darker? That said I've hardly worked with traditional stuff. Still think the picture does it woeful injustice though!

I think the increased darkness would have been a decent trade off for the better contrast and stronger colours. I'll perhaps choose a brighter scene to draw for episode 3.

You should give traditional a go! What have you got to lose?

This seems like the perfect project to experiment with, so go for it!

I should, and I know it. It's just that the way I draw would totally ruil the paper long before I got anything sensible out of it! I usually redo every line 3-4 thousand times before I'm happy with it, and that's not quite as forgiving on paper ^^'

I'm not watching the leaked copy of Ep3 so I'm looking forward to seeing what I can draw on Saturday.

Maybe practicing with pencils will break you of that habit? You do get to the point where you can't rub out anymore and it just smudges so you have to be a little more careful with your lines. That said, a good quality rubber will be very forgiving with that it can erase.

I should practice drawing on the computer more...

Perhaps so, I'll have to see if I have an old sketchbook laying around somewhere :^^:

I find computer drawing very nice, though I've grown very much accustomed to it! However just doodling becomes much more of a hazzle than what it would on paper...

I'm the opposite, I've only been practicing traditional and neglecting computers for drawing. I have a tablet sat on my desk waiting for me to use it; I just find it easier to see what I'm drawing where I'm drawing it I guess. I might try one of these weekly things I'm doing digitally to see how bad I am.

Find it, or use some printer paper, or the back of a letter or something. That's the thing about traditional, you can do it anywhere!

Poor tablet needs some love as well! It'd definitly a matter of habbit :3

That is so true, really helped me on my 8 hour wait when going home from BUCK! By old reciets and a ballpoint the wait was far more managable
