hi there i'm wondering if you have any tips and tricks for painting something as stunning as this. i'm workin on a dragon myself and was wondering what process and steps you take to make something as cool as this.

Paint with a consciousness of form, so that your brushstrokes are crisp and delineate light bouncing off of the surfaces, and a minimum of middle values. Most critters (and humans too) benefit from concentrating on where exactly the light would hit on their form, where the core shadow should hit, and then reflected light. Make sure that in thumbnail form it's still obvious that you are painting a 3D form, with contrasts between shadow and light, and make sure that those value contrasts make for an interesting composition.
