I'd love to leave a verbose filled input to pretend that I am smart and knowledgeble, but I'll limit myself to staring at this piece while trying to imagine how the rest of that infamous comic would have looked in this style.

looks good, only crit is that that yellow is a horrible choice for a coat color but I also don't know a thing about this Pirate comic.

Well, she is based off of another persons character, who's main color is yellow, so I made her coat yellow....

You realize you can't make an Alex ze Pirate comic to call your own, right? That whole sticky issue of copyright comes into play. Why not just come up with your own characters? This is certainly good line work, I could see'em as a unique ship that just happens to exist in the same world.

Not necessarily. It could be considered a fan comic and could be considered 'fair use' provided he doesn't profit from it, uses it for the purpose of criticism, and or makes it 'transformative'. Lots of people on here make comics based on published characters from other copyrighted works and don't get sued or in trouble for it. Hell, I made a comic and I'd be honored to have a fancomic. The only time I might think about suing someone is if they used my characters and made money/claimed to have created them.

I love how you try to keep it as actuate or semi-accurate as possible, it warms up the history and pirate movie nerd in me. Also like how masculine she looks, seeing a Person failed to sell the 'mistaken as a man all the time joke' and that the two most famous women pirates in the Golden Age of Piracy had to disguise themselves as men.
I'm so glad that someone is taking the time to put the same amount of thought and research in redesigning Alex. I recommend 'The Real Caribbean Pirates' from History Channel.
