The Last Summer Day

"Countess Vera Oichi"

As the last rays of light cling to the fading summer sky, the Countess, Vera Oichi, feels lingering heat. The air feels hot as the sweat trickles down her back and her dress clings to her body as she waits for the sun to set. The leaves on the trees have begun to change from green to red, and the air still smells like freshly cut grass and clear blue skies. However, there is a hint of autumn in the breeze. "How bittersweet." She says, waiting for the sun to fade behind the horizon. For this will be the last true feeling of summer, before the chill of autumn arrives tomorrow.
