Description __Rainbow trevally__
Mandibularcus frangereturvis
(Snapping rainbow jaw)
Size- 1.5m

Named after it’s bright colors and protruding jaw unlike most trevally this species is found throughout the coast lines of Australia, India, and the Mediterranean. Their bright coloration originated with an ancestral species of Mandibularcus that resided purely on the reefs. No longer did they have to swim thousands of miles to spawn communally. Now as resident members of the reef sexual selection and competition began to arose with males guarding large plots of the reef. Both males and females posses this bright coloration and it will fade and intensify if breeding season is coming or has ended much like modern trevally but to an extreme. Now the genus has diversified and moved out of purely reef habitats but most are non pelagic and a trek to a reef is not nearly as far. The elongated jaw is to capture prey more effectively in crowded spaces since they are no longer pelagic.

Candycane cornetfish
Fistularia clavatus
(Striped pipeflute)
Size- 1.7m

They have changed very little from the red cornet fish which is what they are descendants of surviving in the Mediterranean. Though some behavioral differences have occurred. They can be found in groups hunting together or even following other predatory fish hunting with them. Much like the pairing of grouper and moray eel.

These two species survive 20myh in the remains of the Mediterranean.
