"Show me that magic trick again, Merlin. The one you showed me when we fled from my birthday feast."Merlin furrows his brow because he cannot remember, how can he think of such a distant past right now? Then it hits him: the great dragon and Arthur’s charmed gaze which filled his heart with pride for the first time. The warlock nods, as the fire beast morphs into the air. Arthur shakes his head slightly.
"No... Not this one. The other one. Show me your favorite spell."
And Merlin smiles through the tears.

I totally feel for you! I usually edit videos and I have to go through those scenes a lot and they just still HURT after having watched them for so many times! And actually I have also lots of unresolved anger issues with that finale because to me apart from Merlin, Arthur and Gwen it just treated characters badly...

I agree. It seemed no one for a good deal. Gwaine died, Percival watched and could do nothing to stop it; Arthur died, Merlin's best friend and Gwen's husband; Morgana died, and believe it or not, I really liked her (though it's difficult to hate Katie) and everything just turned out horrible. Sadness, depression, devestation... And that's only three out of a bajillion emotions. I felt like it could've been a lot better. A lot. Even if Arthur had to die, I felt like some things were a bit... Idk, rushed? Forced? But I did like Arthur and Merlin's scene right before Arthur died. When the words "Thank you" were uttered, I swear my heart broke... ;_;

Ugh, THIS. I agree wholeheartedly! .< you can't just simply discard her like that in 5 seconds as she were the unimportant last minute guest star, she's been one of the 4 protagonists since the very start! No magical fight, no last meaningful talk, no ANYTHING -.- I was so mad! I really wonder how Katie could say she liked her ending, honestly O__o and Gwaine!! What was the point of sacrificing him like that? Just to add more heartbreak to our already broken hearts?
It could have been a lot better definitely...apart from the deaths there were also a thousand things they didn't explain and that were important to me...among them, they left the Aithusa plot in a black hole, they didn't show us Gwen at least allowing magic back...which was the whole point of this show anyway...ugh, I was SO annoyed.
Arthur, Merlin and Gwen were probably the only thing I liked about that finale. Colin and Bradley's scenes were just perfection ç____ç feelings all over!

That was what I hated the most too!! So Gwen is sole ruler... WHAT NEXT?? Is magic back? Does she carry Arthur's heir? (Which in my head-cannon, she does.) Does she ever remarry? What happens to Merlin? SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!! D: (Though I must admit, I kind of like the ambiguity a little bit. It leaves room for fanficion writers/drawers to let their minds go and create all sorts of stuff. But I still wish the ending wasn't so final.)

A baby Arthur would be the cutest thing *-* legend-wise it wouldn't be the case but...oh, well, at least leave us our headcanons to cling to some hope in all this tragedy! çwç
In my headcanon she either never marries again, or if she does, she marries Leon :3
The ambiguity would be cool, if it didn't miss on so many of such important plot points (and adding it to the nonsensical deaths ^^), in my opinion :S I really wish that if they were going to do the modern ending, they would have showed us a glimpse of future!Arthur too, like, I don't know, passing by in the street...seeing Merlin all broken and keeping waiting for him after a thousand years was too much. ;___;

Gwen marying Leon (or no one) is my headcannon too!! And I don't care if having an Arthur Jr. isn't part of the original legends. Honestly, the Merlin BBC is only loosely based on the legends. Very loosely. (But I like it better lol.) While I like the idea of Arthur walking on the streets and seeing Merlin, I'm not sure if my heart could'vr taken it. I probably would've broken down crying even ore so than I already did. Though on the other hand... I'm still not over the ending they choose to do. My heart still needs stiches from it TT-TT
