Description This one is from MegaCon 2011-- drawn live on the show floor, I believe.

Batgirl and Nightwing? WOW-- I'm really getting a lot of requests for these two characters lately. Always a pleasure, though.

Drawn in blue pencil on 11 x 17 bristol. Converted to greyscale in Photoshop.

Enjoy!

Hey Jeremy

Great work! Question..how are you scanning the 11x17 s into Photoshop? Your own large format scanner bed or do you shop it out to local graphics printer place?

I have a large-format scanner/printer, actually (a Brother MFC 6490CW). It scans 11 x 17 pages in one pass.

Before that, though, I stitched my pages together in Photoshop digitally. Not hard to do if you scan well.

Thanks Jerememy

I thought you might get a kick out of knowing a little more about the poor guy you are helping out here! I graduated from Art College back in 1980!!! Yep I'm 53. I had a good thing going for a few years, made some money and a name for myself! (Big fish...Little pond) but then times got tough and I went to work in the factory my Dad worked in. It's now thirty years later and with four blown discs in my back I have decided to retire and pick up where I left off.
So I have started a Graphic Novel that I had the idea for thirty years ago and I am getting consumed by all of the great art on this site. Yours included! I am not exactly computer illiterate but I still prefer my hands and my Iwata Airbrush. I have a small scanner and CorelDraw (no Photoshop) I know, I heard the gasp from here!!! So thanks for the info and helping me move into the 21 century. I have some software and equipment to check out!!!

Cheers

Mike

No worries at all-- and not having Photoshop isn't all that uncommon. Might I recommend the all-free GIMP program. It mimics a lot of the more popular features of Photoshop quite successfully... and it's FREE.

Best of luck!

Thanks Jeremy for the suggestion of GIMP. I downloaded it last night and havn't slept yet!!LOL
To bad you don't do the Canadian Comicon curcuit. I'm going to my first one April 14th in Toronto.
Good luck with the upcoming events and hopefully our paths will cross in the future.

regards

I do hit Fan-Expo in Toronto about every other year (this would be the off-year, sadly). Love the Canadian fans! They're amazing.

Thanks! It's less "actual shading" and more "spotted blacks for print in a comic book".

Much appreciated!
