Description I did some Fantastic Four sketches at Pittsburgh Comicon 2009 a short while back while sketching after-hours with some friends down in the hotel lobby. LOTS of fun, nice to hang out with them in that capacity.

Here's Mr. Fantastic-- Reed Richards himself. It's weird looking back at the "BEST OF" with Kirby's work on the book sometimes, as he drew Reed FAR more muscular than you typically see today (although the current artist isn't my cup of tea with the "Arnold Schwarzenegger approach to Reed). Here, I just wanted to make him look iconic and NOT a 20-something and NOT a 70-something. Make sense? Hurm.

There ya go!

This is awesome Jeremy! I got's one question though. Maybe you can help me with this. Why is it, that everytime I look at Mr. Fantastic I get an urge to just kick him in the balls. I mean I don't read alot of him because of the fact that I just can't get over this douchebag feel of him. That's gotta be wrong of me right? lol!!

Reed isn't your pleasant kinda guy-- he's well-known for being a jerk to those around him from time to time. It's often explained a side-effect of being so freakin' brilliant... that his people skills aren't as refined.

Works for me! I'd rather he HAVE character than none at all and just appear bland to readers.

Ah that's the over all feel of him for sure lol! Kinda like the douche baggery of Cyclops. I love it both of them because I can dislike both of their characters lol! you know a character is well written when you can have an adverse emotional reaction. Thanks Jeremy!

Nah, I just think Cyclops has had some bad writing to some degree. For crying out loud, he USED to be the most popular character in the book, which is why he stayed in the book when they announced the ALL-NEW, ALL DIFFERENT X-Men with Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus and the rest. He's the "everyman" that the other personalities are supposed to bounce off of-- now he's portrayed as a tool more often than not. Oh well.

I agree. I hadn't really gotten into comics until the Jim lee X-men came out. Those were some of my first big titles. And I wanted to like Cyclops but he was such a douche. I don't know. I love his look though. He has had some sweet portrayals done of him over the years. I believe it was in an X-men comic when he was basically run over by the Marauders on order by Mr. Sinister that finally got me over the fact that I hated him so much. From then until a lil later he was ok. Then he was coolish then a douche again. I guess it really does depend on the writer

Yup-- any of the ones you've seen here are always available for purchase on the cheap, since they're just sketches. I sell my sketches all the time. Most are on regular printer paper, but the FF series is on sweet textured cardstock or something. It's pretty cool stuff.
