heck, I still have issues with line art.... which if you use SAI is very difficult and for me Photoshop is just not appealing.... but then again I am new to it still

I started out messing with all the art tools to see which fit better for me. I use pen tool for sketching and lineart. I use the brush or the water tool for coloring and blending. Just keep drawing on the program and test out all the things in the program. I find it helpful to even look at other artist drawing on SAI. You can find lots of videos on Youtube.
