Brief Biography
The Schwartzberg name is often cursed and spat on due to the actions of the recently crowned Imperator of the Suebian Empire, Leopold, due to the man's actions during the Great Northern War. Leopold himself has made many enemies during his ascent to power, including the Icelian Kingdom and the Knights of Verena. Any internal dissent within his regime is heavily suppressed through his charisma and ruthless hounding of his Elite Guard. However, as the old saying goes, even in times of darkness, there is always a light.

Maximilian (shortened to Max) is the son of Leopold through his romantic union with Karoline Schultz, a minor princess among the many Suebian dukedoms. The union was a short one, however, as Leopold stopped seeing her to focus on his political and military career. Karoline raised Max by herself, using her family connections and status as a duchess to provide him with a decent education. When Leopold met his son for the first time, Max was already 7 years old, and Leopold mostly felt displeased with Karoline's education, something that will define their relationship for a very long time. Both father and son rarely saw eye to eye, with Leopold seeing his son as weak and unable to connect with him in any way, other than in sword duels. Their time together was short, however, as Leopold immediately sent away Karoline and Max as the Great Northern War heated up. For much of his life, Max went under his mother's surname "Schultz" to pass off without alerting suspicion.

During that time, Karoline soon fell seriously ill, and care for her fell to Max and his maternal uncle, Klaus. Max considered Klaus to be more of a father figure than Leopold, and in turn, Klaus had often warned Max about his father, especially after learning of Leopold's actions during the Great Northern War. Max was made aware of his father's treason against his former allies through Klaus, but by then, Leopold was now the most powerful man in both Lower and Upper Suebia. Leopold crowned himself Imperator after the Great Northern War, and summoned Max to Konigsberg. Max obliged, but not before one last warning from his uncle to be wary of him.

The second meeting was brief, and their relationship was still strained, but Leopold had developed a bit of respect for his son. Soon after, news reached that Karoline had passed on as her disease took a turn for the worst. After making her funeral arrangements, Leopold formally designated his son as heir apparent. Despite his reluctance, Leopold allowed Klaus to join Max as an adviser, but had always plotted to undermine him. So far, the results have been fruitless.

Personality
Max's upbringing under his mother and uncle Klaus pretty much sets him apart from his more authoritarian father. Despite sharing the same last name, Max and Leopold are as different as day and night, with Max abhorring the use of fear to maintain control, and admiring the Knights of Verena despite them being opponents of his father's (and diretly, his) rule. In particular, Max highly admired the High Marshall Sigismund, and longed to have an audience with him.

Even for all his positive traits, Max does inherit a few negative traits from his father. Max does possess a ruthless edge at times, and is sometimes known to be fond of dramatic flair. These have sometimes portrayed him as arrogant and conceited, accusations shared with his father. Max also shares some of his father's charisma, though the results are not as noticable compared to his father's dominant personality. Max prefers to use diplomacy and is more open to compromises, a stark contrast to Leopold's domineering personality to get what he wants.

While Max respected his father, their relationsip is very strained, and there is a subtle, but very notable, layer of tension simmering between them. Despite his young age, Max is already seeking to build up his own power base, though directly challenging his father is still a tall order.

Powers & Abilities
Max may appear to be your typical pampered prince that will hide behind the backs of others for protection, the truth is far from that. Through the influence of his mother and uncle, Max is familiar with basic combat skills, since his status as Leopold's heir marked him for assassination and kidnapping. Max takes a lot from Klaus in this aspect, who was a renowned lancer in his youth, and whose skills Max had studied and emulated. Unlike many of the royalty, who love to trick out their weapons with bling and decorations, Max prefers a simple, unornated sword-staff as his personal weapon.

As mentioned, sword fighting was the only activity that Max ever enjoyed with his father, and while he admits he is not a particularly outstanding swordsman, he still knows the basics to fight and counter the attacks of sword users.

Max has qualifications for a Lancer and Saber class Servant. Given enough time, he can earn qualifications for the Ruler class, assuming he can run the large Suebian Empire properly.
