I like the art style. Although the spines on the head are off a bit. There usually two on each side of the head as well as two spines in the middle. Nevertheless, great job!
I heard from the Sonic Retro Admin, Tweaker that fellow member Chimpo is making a 32X CD version of Sonic 4 by modifying Sonic 2.
I think it could turn into a very good idea, especially for the Saturn. People only say the Saturn sucks because 2D games were prevented from being released in America. The Saturn is a 2D powerhouse.

I'm still thinking concepts, though I got Sonic's gameplay all planned out already. I'll eventually upload a document with the gameplay of the characters.

Ah cool. I do the same. Think of concepts and the make the game. I'm trying to keep it retro with just sonic , tails ,knuckles , sonic CD amy(briefly) and robotnik.

Playable characters I've thought of are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Fang. What I'm doing is basing myself on Sonic Advance for moveset ideas, but also on Sonic Megamix, Sonic Brother Trouble, The S Factor and Amy in Sonic 1, various fanhacks that show the limits and potentials of new character movesets on the Mega Drive, with characters like Shadow, Silver, Amy, etc. adapted to Sonic 1 and 2.

Sonics move set in my game has wall jumps , peel-out and spindash. Knuckles and Tails remain the same. Amy isn't playable but she's features. I may have nack/fang pop up as an enemy once ina while but I want to keep new characters out.

I'm trying to implement both. Sonic's level's are mainly based on speed , Tails are on speed/exploration and Knuckles are based on exploration.
While not my fave sonic game I tihnk sonic CD was the best of the 2-D era.

The way I imagine it, the levels will be filled with obstacles and pathways, so I gave Sonic moves like the wall-jump, the peel-out, air dash and if with the fire shield the boost so he can keep a fast platforming game. Tails plays as a slower Sonic with more exploration in the means of flight. Knuckles is pure exploration mixed with beat-em-up: hovering, punching, etc. I'd like to give him the DRILL ability from Colours but I think that's too much for a hack. Hey, maybe you could use it for your game? Amy is standart platformer like in Advance- not so fast, but has a hammer et al, and fer last Nack uses his tail like an instant Spring, has guns (think Mega Man), AND can access parts of the level specific to him by SHRINKING

Great ideas xD I like nack's spring bounce and gun idea!
I'm trying to keep my moveset's retro (with the exception of walljump) but you have some nice ideas ^^
Nack will most likely pop up as an enemy , or maybe even in the special zone trying endless to collect the emeralds. God a sonic 2 styles special zone with nack trying to get the rings too would be ace ^^

I'm not going there yet. I'm planning as much as possible first, so I can know exactly what I'll be aiming at when learning the hack.
Though more and more I'm consdering just try to make it a fangame with Sonic Worlds or something. More freedom, I suppose.

I'm making mine with a heavily modded game maker engine. It's going okay atm. I'm rogramming Nack's appearances and what-not now. Sonic worlds is for MMF2 right?
The only down side to using a fan-engine is that the physics won't be 100% perfect , so you'll always get stupid people complaining , but if your like me and can settle for somthing as close as an engine I don't see any reason not to.

The engine is relatively finished. It has a lot of gimmicks that aren't in game maker engines (But can be easily implemented).

Nah, the Stars are thematic- a Star-shaped ship falls in Earth, Robotnik uses it's energy for his plan. It would revolve around stars and space and etc., but not so much in a Colours sense- think more Ristar. For gameplay, I'll give more info later, but think more like Sonic Advance (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, each with many unique abilities) mixed with CD (large exploration levels, crazy geometrical design, but no time travel) Sonic 3 and Knuckles (huge levels) and a dash of Sonic Heroes (lots of level gimmicks).
I'll post more things as it comes, this is all thought out to work as a feasible hack.

Ah,I see.But what I meant was that it's like a spin off series with different designs etc,that are in a dfferent canon to the main games.
Like Paper Mario is to Mario,Battle Network is to RM,etc
Not the RPG part,but the spinoff "AU" part
