Gogo cliche'd as hell eye shot of an animal, but it's proof that I can actually get the camera to focus where I want it to. As someone who's just starting with proper photography, this is very exciting for me!
Do you have any idea how bloody hard it is to get the camera to focus on the eye on an animal this hairy? I can tell you, there were about 20 photos that *looked* great until I got them onto the PC, but this was the only one that did the job I wanted.

Slightly altered in Photoshop to reflect proper lighting and colour of the dog. The only real complaint is that I could have centered his eye in the frame better, but that can be done in time.

Photo is of a darling Irish Wolfhound X called Kirin, or Kiri for short. Kirin was adopted after multiple failed placements with various 'forever homes' before he came to live with us, and has a history of mistreatment, food restriction and abuse so he can be quite skittish and cautious around new people and has to be fed independently to other animals, otherwise he'll scarf their food down, too. After a few years of love, good food and belly rubs, Kiri has become a happy-go-lucky dog with a massive heart, but there are still moments when you can see his history.
