Description Who do you think would win?! Vote here! [link]

Back in 09 I followed the trend of drawing a character each week, keeping the theme of the name of the day and the characters name synonymous. Wonder Woman Wednesdays was my way of practicing drawing women which I was HORRIBLE at (and still to a degree) in order learn and grow while having some fun. I challenged myself to not only do a drawing, but ink and color a illustration of her all while doing other art as well. I even tried my hand at watercoloring painting some of the pieces to try something different=]

This venture spawned a fight between gods, Diana a demi god from the DC Universe and Thor from the Marvel Universe. The two characters are and should be regarded as some of the most powerful character to ever grace the comic book scene. I loved seeing Wonder Woman tower over Superman in Darwyn Cooke's New Frontier and felt she was finally taken as serious as she deserved.

All that said, this is a piece I am finally happy with. I'd like to have fully painted it rather than the cell shading, but that will also come in time. I am in the process of relearning how to color in a manor that fits my current mind state. I really am enjoying how animated movies are colored (hand drawn cartoons) and the beautiful rendering of painterly styled works, comic and otherwise. If you see anything here that could be done better, please feel free to express so, I am always interested learning and doing what I can to become a better artist.

I hope you enjoy this piece and come back to see what else I am working on.....

the journey.....

Alright lets try and figure this out: Thor has some unobjectionable feats like living through his battle with Glory and that "torrent of cosmic fire" attack (that was 10,000 alien gods IN 1 for everyone's information) and taking energy attacks from multiple Celestials without faltering (as far as i'm concerned the Celestial Host was threatening enough to scare Odin, Zeus and Brahma into withdrawal AND trumped the immensely powerful Destroyer). Mholnir can unleash and control multiple energy forms in addition to rain, wind and lightning. Thor's physical strength feats are numerous and undoubtedly top-class. So in short he punches REALLY hard, he is VERY resistant to injury/death although NOT indestructible and Mjolnir is a freaking Swiss Army knife of destruction and recreation. Diana (don't like the title of Wonder Woman much) now is proven to be daughter to the Olympian god-king Zeus (not much knowledge on HIS power/capabilities set) and she is definitely strong like Superman-level strong !! She is in every sense of the word a warrior. Trained by the best to fight the best she is acknowledged by Batman as THE best hand-to-hand combatant in the DC universe. Her bracelets are surprisingly effective as a defense and her lasso is NOT to be underestimated. One thing that ah can state with certainty is that she is NOT on par with Thor on the energy projection/control department and that is a considerable factor in my opinion. My conclusion ? Physically both of them would be hard pressed to gain any considerable advantage and Diana would REALLY have to keep an eye on Mjolnir's destructive potential. Thor on his part would have to find a way to deal with her lasso since it is official that it's NOT so easily to break or escape. In the end Thor will come VERY close to victory but it is conceivable that Diana would come up with a plan to hit him HARD AND FAST in order to avoid a crushing defeat. It would truly be a battle of the sexes and a clash of unbreakable resolve !!

hehe all of this is pretty much true, the one thing you haven't mentioned is Wonder Woman has killed and still will go that route, Thor has not done so in quite some time... it does bring an edge...

Alright so Diana is willing to kill... But Thor can tell when the situation is kill-or-be-killed !! So he WILL find that path as well (depending on the writer )

Nice. But Wondie would win. Her Power level is almost on par with superman and he can still bench the weight of the earth 5 days outta of the sun (New 52). She has beaten almost every female hero including powergirl and supergirl. Plus she has fantastic training and weapons that can compete with Thors hammer. I just don't see him coming out on top lol

thelearningcurv In reply to bonez1112 [2013-07-16 06:34:38 +0000 UTC]

you do know that Superman and Thor go toe to toe strength wise right if she can't beat him, she can't beat Thor strength wise... and Thor has been fighting giants and other creatures since childhood, which his lifetime is that of a gods, not of a mortals like Diana's (no more than 32?) She doesn't have the experience or strength, but she is a woman, and they will always be able to tempt us or handle us in ways we can't them...=]

Well I disagree with Thor & Superman being at the same strength level. The new 52 Superman Benched the weight of the earth 5 days away from the Sun. Also Diana's is the daughter of Zeus and fights the gods all the time so she does have the experience lol.Β

Superman has also been able to change matter with his mind and reverse the rotation of the earth going back in time... You have to go with the average of his existance, not the most souped up version of the character. And if we're basing this on new 52 standards, the only reason WW can stand with Sups is because he allows it. Β Being able to bench the earth 's weight 5 times should allow for him to even knock out Zeus easily.Β

Tough, but I'd say Thor. He's far more durable, can control the weather and has Mjolnir. Wondie'd probably be the better martial artist, though Thor is also well-trained.

Tough fight, but I'd say Wonder Woman. If I remember correctly, sometime duing the DC versus Marvel crossover, Mjolnir jumped ship and gave itself to Wonder Woman, so...

Thor is very powerful. He can do so much with Mjolnir but he lacks speed. If they have to destroy something i ll put my money on thor because he can bigger attacks but in a fight Thor would be lucky to see Wonder Woman coming. Wonder Woman can easily dodge or block anything he throws at her, she will not give him any chance to do anything big. Wonder Woman will hit him 100 times before Thor can hit her once. If she has Sword then she will one shot Thor by decapitating him before he can react.

thelearningcurv In reply to SuperPsychoCrusher [2012-05-23 19:20:40 +0000 UTC]

i agreed with all of that but the decapitation, i don't think thors neck is THAT weak=]
